Media Literacy In A Nut Shell !

The basics of what it is...

What is "Media" and "Media Literacy"?

I think that Media is a way of the world to connect with each other. It is a way of informing people of some news or even to share your own opinion.Media can be found in many different forms. So anything from television, newspaper, Facebook, and even Twitter can be considered a form of Media. There are some forms of Media in which you can share and gather opinion of others and represent who you are. This representation is called an Electronic Tattoo and just like a real tattoo, it is also permanent.you should be just as careful about getting an Electronic Tattoo as you would when getting a real Tattoo. The study of Media is known is Media Literacy.Media Literacy is having the knowledge and understanding of this so called Media. It is a the way of knowing how Media can effect a person's life. It is knowing how Media can help and harm someone.Media can be used to change people's opinion and make big changes to the world. It can be used for good and bad intentions.Especially as the world is moving forward, it is getting easier and faster for people to connect with one another.Media connect us with each other and also informs you of what is happening in the world. Media has the power to change the world and everyone should be literate about the media they come in contact with.We come in contact with Media a lot more then we think. Specially in In today's world, it is important to learn what we can about our Media.

Ameer Tanveer, Staff reporter

Suwanee GA- A burglar’s life was spared after he broke in a 25-year old man named John’s house who recently got rid of his gun due to gun control.

A burglar broke in his house, stole his stuff which was worth a few thousand dollars, and got away safely. He held John at gun point during the incident. John was glad he got rid of his gun, otherwise he could have killed the burglar. The police thanked John for not keeping his gun because he could have killed that burglar which broke in his house.

John Said ” I am thankful to my government which put on this gun control law. I could have shot the burglar and possibly killed him, if it was not for the gun control law. Gun control law saved that man’s life today."

1984 theme song

Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me

"Some body is watching me"

The song called "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell directly relates to the overall theme of the book 1984. The song talks about how an average man feel like he has no privacy. He feels as if someone is always watching him. When he is watching the TV, he feels as if the people in the TV can see him. This relates to the book 1984 because in the book everyone has TVs in their homes watching them . When they leave the house, there are cameras and microphones watching over them and tracking their every move.In the book, people have no privacy what so ever. In this song, Rockwell talks about an average man who feel the same way.He is afraid in his own house that someone is watching him.He thinks that he might be going crazy but he has a feeling that he is being watched all the time.He asks himself who can be watching him. Is it the neighbors or may be the IRS.We has no idea who and why is someone tracking him.He does not know how but he knows that someone is watching him. Rockwell keeps on emphasizing this throughout the song and in the book 1984 George Orwell Does the same thing.

Final words

I never knew what media literacy was until i joined this class. At first, i thought that it would be boring and a lot of work that i would hate doing. That perspective has been changed since then. I have learned a lot from this class. I learned a lot of things about the world which i was never aware. Like the fact that news is not really news. This class make me realize the things that are wrong with society and should be fixed. Not only was this class academically enhanced, but it also taught me to be a better person. A person who is aware of what's happening around the world and is willing to fix the flaws of the society. Even the novels that we read in this class were extraordinary. For example, the book “1984”, it would have to be the best book i have ever read. I tought me so much as to what is happening around the world and how i am unaware of it.This class taught me to be a better person in general. This class for me was a thrill to have. In other language arts classes, you do book word and write and thats about it but this class was more student base. Students were asked for their opinion and what they can learn from the assignments. For each assignment we did, not only was their an educational purpose but their was a lesson from which the student could benefit.. When we read the book “1984”, i learned that society is not as it seems. There's a hidden truth in it and i have to be aware to my surroundings before my surrounding take control of me.This is just one example of a life lesson that i learned from this class. I don’t think there is anything that can be done to make this class better. it is perfect as it is.
