January Character Trait: Perseverance
Oratorical Fest
UPCOMING: 2016 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. ORATORICAL FEST
There are various categories for classes: whole group and/or individual or small groups of students can learn and recite poems for our site competition on Thursday, January 20, 2016 at 10:00 am. This a great way for your class to practice speaking and listening, working together as a class team, and the opportunity to build students' confidence and the experience of being on stage before an audience.
Thursday, January 21, 2016 site competition, 10:00 am. If you have questions or need ideas for poems please let me know.
This year marks the 37th year of the Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Fest--a rich community and district event that provides K-12 students, from the Oakland Unified School District and sister schools within Oakland's city limits, a platform to embrace the importance of literacy and oratorical skills.
Last year, over one thousand students presented and performed in the 2015 Oratorical Festival. We're hoping to top that number this year!

While the Oratorical Fest Website is currently being updated to reflect 2016 information, it still has essential guidance for teachers, parents, and students to prepare. Use the following link: https://sites.google.com/a/ousd.k12.ca.us/ousdoratoricalfest/home
