Newsletter Term 2, Week 1
Otautau School 7th May 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Welcome Back
Welcome back everyone. What a wonderful start we have made this week. Students are happy, classrooms are buzzing and teachers are excited about sharing with the students what new learning will be happening this term.
As you will be able to tell this is the first week of our new electronic newsletter. Over the coming weeks we will continually add more in the form of videos, pictures and links to forms etc.
Website
We are in the process of updating our new school website. www.otautau.school.nz
The website links with our school app so all notifications that get pushed out through our school app transfer to the website. It is going to be fantastic to have everything all in the one place. We will be continuing to build the website throughout Term 2.
Attendance Patterns
It has been pleasing to report that our attendance patterns are slowly improving throughout the school. We have 83% of the school identified as having Tier 1 attendance - 90% or more. This is still below the national expectation of children having 90% or more attendance. Our aim by the end of the year is for our school to have 90% attendance identified as Tier 1 by Term 4.

Everyone is more than welcome to come along.

Please contact the school if your child is going to be away. Easiest way is through the School App or you can phone the school office 225 8320.
If there is no reason given for a child's absence they will be marked as truant!!
Bus Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct outlines the expectations when using this bus service along with what happens if the Code of Conduct is broken.
We have sent one contract home per family, so if you have more than one child using this bus service then just add their name to the line where it says 'student'.
Later on in the term the Year 7/8 students will be going through this process when going to Winton Technology (the current bus kids won't need to sign the contract again).
CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS....
ROOM 4
The children have had fun in Room 4 making origami frogs. Everyone was being a Thinker Tau to problem solve how to make the frogs and persevere with the tricky parts.
