RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - At the steps of the Nevada State Capitol, Lisa Cano Burkhead was sworn in as Nevada’s new lieutenant governor.

“We looked outside of the box to bring the community into government,” said Governor Sisolak.

The 50-year-old Latina has an extensive background in education and says she intends to be a voice for educators, kids, and parents.

“I want to use my life’s experience as a teacher, a principal, and administrator and as a parent, to be Nevada’s advocate for education in my new role as lieutenant governor,” said Burkhead.

Thank you to two of our 2020 SVS Graduates!

Gabe Clemente, an SVS Graduate of 2020, did his Boy Scout "Eagle" project at our St. Viator playground & equipment closet over the holidays. His project included new cabinets and shelves along with painting the playground lines for volleyball, basketball, four square and chess board.

Thank you to Gabe and his group of volunteers for their contributions to our school campus, great job!!

Bryce Philbeck, an SVS graduate of 2020, and current BGHS student (attended SVS Pre-K), chose for his Eagle Scout project, to hand make instruments for our students. A true labor of love. Five different instruments, 252 pieces, beautifully made using the best of materials and in our school colors. He delivered them personally with his parents. Our Pre-K students were very excited. Thank you for all your hard work Bryce and for not forgetting your alma mater. Once a Stallion, always a Stallion 💙💛
