Fostering An Attitude of Gratitude
Research has shown that people who experience gratitude have more positive emotions and happiness, fewer negative emotions, have increased feelings of connectedness and improved relationships, and even better physical health.
With Thanksgiving coming up it is important to appreciate how fortunate many of us are, and to foster an atittude of "Simple Gratitude Every Day". Please click here to read a publication titled Fostering An Attitude of Gratitude: Tips for Parents.

Winter Clubs In Need Of Volunteers
We are also in need of parents to be Daily Leaders to make sure everything runs smoothly each day. The Daily Leader will be expected to be at school from 3:15-4:30 PM every week on their chosen day for the duration of the session.
We are trying something new this year and splitting the clubs into 2 sessions. The first session will run the weeks of January 5 - February 9. The second session will run the weeks of March 2 - April 6. Please consider helping us out by signing up below:

5th and 6th Graders SKYPE With England
Last week Gayman’s 5th and 6th grade had the unique opportunity to SKYPE with Dandelion Time, a children’s charity, in Kent, England! All the students involved on both sides of the Atlantic enjoyed hearing about each other’s culture and traditions, and shared many laughs along the way. Pictures and a video of the SKYPE assembly will be available on the Gayman website.
Kids Care Club, in partnership with Be the Light of the Party Foundation, will be collecting donations and sending out a Holiday Care Package to Dandelion Time in the next few weeks. For more information on these charities please click on the links listed below:

Donation bins will be placed outside the Gayman office following the Thanksgiving break. We are collecting warm socks and gloves for older kids-10+ (anything reflecting American culture would be especially great-Disney, US sports teams and USA Flag for example) for Dandelion Time kids. We need lotions, colognes, perfumes, slippers/bed socks, novels, classic movie DVDs and crossword puzzles for Pine Run Lakeview nursing home residents.

Outdoor/Indoor Recess
The decision to go out or remain indoors for recess is made by Mr. Testani based on weather conditions. The goal is to allow the children to play outside whenever the weather conditions permit. The wind-chill factor is the primary factor. The children remain outside for the full recess period provided the wind-chill is above 15 degrees. A wind-chill of between 10 and 15 degrees will result in an abbreviated outdoor recess. The children will have indoor recess in the event of rain, snow, or wind chills below 10 degrees.
