Reading Junior High Longhorns
Message from your Principal
This is our last newsletter of the year and what an honor it has been getting to know your kids this year and seeing them grow so much! I absolutely loved our academic celebrations last week and it was such a testament to the joy and support our kids have for each other hearing the cheers coming from our 8th graders for each other as they received their awards. It was also great seeing so many parents who were able to come out and join us.
If you missed it, we tried something new this year and did a live Facebook recording so it is on our page along with some photos of our kids and the George Ranch High School graduates who did their traditional Maroon Track walk down our main hallway. It was amazing to see former Reading JH students embarking on their next journey in life as they head off to college, military, career... Our students were able to cheer them on and get a glimpse of what is to come for them in 4 or 5 years.
For my parents of 8th graders- I tell the kids that this is not goodbye, it is see you later. Thank for your support, patience and willingness to pivot and go with the flow over the last two years.
For my parents of 7th graders- thank you for allowing us to work together as we navigated a school year that resembled a "back to normal as can be" school year. Your kids will be our leaders next year!
To all of our parents- on behalf of the staff at Reading, we wish you a safe, relaxing and joyful summer!
Thank you for sending us the Best of the Best!

Summer Science Safari Camp
Hey parents!
It’s that time of year again!
The time when you realize that your kids will be home for the next three months!
Rated among the "Top 10 Summer Camps" by the Houston Chronicle, Summer Science Safari.com is a science camp experience that will make your child excited about science. Your student has seen the pictures in the science textbooks, now they can experience the science in action, first hand. Whether it’s flying high at I-Fly or exploring the Hill Country by Zip-Line, your child is sure to learn and see many fascinating things—not to mention having a great time. Who knows, we might blow up something! (yes we have pictures) We pack as much science and learning into five days as we can, and top it off with lots of fun.
Kenneth Fletcher will again be leading this year’s camp. He holds a Master of Science Degree from the University of Houston-Victoria, and Coaches the very well-respected Reading JHS Science Olympiad Team. This will be his eighth summer of facilitating the Summer Science Safari in the Fort Bend Area.
