Cimarron Middle School Newsletter - October 6, 2017
Colts Chronicle provides information to parents, students, staff, and community.
Principal Notes:
Dear Cimarron Families,
Fall break is a great time to reflect on our first quarter, and I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students! Thank you for the continued support and collaboration during the first quarter. As we move into second quarter, please continue to take a very active part in your child’s learning by talking to him/her about their classes and checking in with their teachers’ websites regularly. We recognize that in order to meet the unique needs of our students, a middle school needs to be developmentally responsive, challenging, empowering, and equitable. It is only through partnering with our students’ families that we can continue to ensure that Cimarron is a place where all students can excel!
This is a busy time of year for our Cimarron community, and we have many great opportunities for our students in the upcoming months. Please continue to check out our school website and be sure to read this issue of the Colt’s Chronicle carefully, they are full of many upcoming events and opportunities!
Again, we appreciate your support and partnership, and look forward to a great second quarter at Cimarron!
-Chris Zimmerman

We will be running a Box Tops for Education Contest October 16th-October 27th.
With Fall Break right around the corner, this would be a great time to go through the cupboards, refrigerator and freezer to hunt for and clip all the Box Tops you can find! Ask your neighbors, Aunts & Uncles or Grandma & Grandpa if they will clip and give you their Box Tops.
In a Ziploc bag:
1) put your unexpired Box Top clips
2) put your name, team name and grade
3) put the number of Box Tops that are in the bag
4) Bring them to school and toss them in the collection box at the security kiosk
In return for your Box Tops you will receive 1 entry and one additional entry for every 25 additional Box Tops you submit.
You will have the chance to win: 1 of 4 CiMS Spiritwear items or 1 of 6 $2 certificate to the school store. Names will be pulled at random. The student who submits the most Box Tops will win a $10 gift card!

PTO Corner
Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered or purchased books at our book fair and those who helped with movie night. Between the two events we made about $2,700. The proceeds from these events will go to support grants from the school.
Highlights from the October PTO meeting include voting to approve a grant to the BIONICs (Believe It or Not, I Care) team and a grant for the drama department. We also discussed the Festival of Trees. We will need many volunteers to make this a successful event. We will need approximately 450 clean one gallon milk or juice cartons for our stage design this year. Starting in November we will be collecting clean jugs so please start saving them for us. Watch for upcoming emails with more details and volunteer opportunities for FOT.
Due to scheduling conflicts we had to move our next PTO meeting to Nov 2nd at 9:00. We hope to see you there!
