Message from the Athletic Office
I hope this newsletter finds you all happy and healthy! This year is flying by and I am very excited for the warm and sunny days that are ahead. Thank you to all of you, for your grace and patience that you have shown during this past year.
One year ago this month we were prepared to start baseball, softball, soccer games, and track and field events only to learn that we had to quarantine, effective immediately. During that time, I continued to talk with our coaches and my message remained, "I will see you all in two weeks...". Boy was I wrong! We were given the opportunity to host events this Fall and overall, we completed those seasons successfully. After the Fall season, another shutdown of activities. Once this occurred, I was convinced, based on many sources and conversations, that activities would be canceled for the remainder of the year. Two days prior to the start of the basketball seasons, athletic directors from all over the state had a meeting with the IHSA, the news was grim and we were again convinced that a season would not occur. We were wrong, our sources were wrong and we were all left confused on how to proceed, but we did.
I tell you this because we have continued to think we know the answers, only to be surprised when our answers are wrong. Nothing has been "concrete", there are no "absolutes", that is an extremely difficult reality while trying to lead any organization in a positive direction. What I have learned is that even when information is wrong people deserve communication. Our stakeholders deserve communication. We will continue to roll with the changes and do our best to support our students. I will always do what I believe is best for the students of Harvard and the Harvard community, that does not always make our decisions right! I can not tell you how much I appreciate the respect, patience, and grace that the Harvard community has shown us over the past year. Please know that we continue to work to make decisions that will positively impact our students!!

Competition Cheer Team
The competitive cheer team was composed of all freshmen this year. Their dedication and hard work helped them score 10 points higher as a team than the previous competitive cheer season. The team did well with balancing academics and practices. Throughout our shortened season, the athletes have already gained many skills beneficial for future seasons. We look forward to continuing our growth!
