A Message From Principal Langston
The First Day of School!
We had a wonderful first day of school at Oyster Creek Elementary! As Mrs. Richter and I visited classrooms throughout the day, we saw smiling students and teachers. At lunch three of the students were using a chocolate candy bar as an exemplar for fractions! We're sure your children will have lots to tell you about their first day back. They will also have forms for you to fill out and return. I still remember filling out forms for my children (especially my twins).
Teachers reviewed routines and expectations today. They also helped students learn all about how to walk from place to place in the building. This was especially important for our Kindergarten and new Oyster Creek students. Members of our staff will be in the lobby tomorrow morning to walk students to class.
Thank you parents for your patience with dismissal. The first few days of school are normally the longest for dismissal. As our students become used to the routine, you will see the process move much faster. Is your child a car rider? If so, you will need a car rider tag. If you do not have one, please come to the front office and we will be glad to assist you with acquiring a tag. As you know, consistency is very important for children. It makes a huge difference when children go home the same way, every day. All transportation changes need to be made prior to 2:45 p.m. This helps us make sure all of our students are in the correct dismissal area.
Enjoy your evening and we look forward to seeing students tomorrow for a successful day two!
