October News 2023 "The World's Greatest Elementary School"
PRINCIPAL POINTS
Dear Taft Community,
As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, we are thrilled to bring you the exciting news of a generous donation that has warmed our hearts this October. Our valued community stakeholder, Lanterns Church, has truly lit up our world with their incredible support!
Lanterns Church Shines Bright: A $8,800 Gift!
We are thrilled to announce that Lanterns Church has made an extraordinary contribution of $8,800 to our beloved Taft family for books. Their generosity knows no bounds, and this donation will have a profound impact on our community, especially our young readers.
$2,000 for Our Library: Building Brighter Minds
First and foremost, Lanterns Church has donated $2,000 to enhance our library. This gift will help us purchase a wide range of books, from classic novels to the latest releases, catering to the diverse tastes and interests of our community members. Our library will continue to be a place where knowledge flourishes, imaginations run wild, and dreams take flight.
Over $16 per Student at the Book Fair: Fueling the Love for Reading
In addition to their library donation, Lanterns Church has gone above and beyond by contributing over $16 per student to purchase books at our upcoming book fair. This means that every child in our community will have the opportunity to choose books that spark their curiosity and passion. With these books, they can embark on thrilling adventures, learn about the world around them, and cultivate a lifelong love for reading.
Expressing Our Gratitude
We would like to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to Lanterns Church. Their unwavering support not only helps us create a vibrant and literate community but also demonstrates the power of unity and generosity. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of our children and the future of our community.
We invite you all to join us in celebrating this remarkable contribution. Let's come together as a community to express our thanks and appreciation to Lanterns Church. Your participation, whether through kind words, artwork, or gestures of gratitude, will mean the world to us and our generous benefactors. Please have your children bring their thank you cards, letters or artwork to school and give them to their classroom teacher so we can be sure to give them to the Church's membership to show our upmost appreciation.
As October unfolds, let us remember that the spirit of generosity knows no season, and together, we can continue to illuminate the path to knowledge, imagination, and growth for all.
Thank you, Lantern's Church, for being the guiding light in our community.
Parking Lot and Pick -Up Updates
We are no longer allowing early pick-ups between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There are entirely too many parents who are simply attempting to "beat traffic." This creates way too many disruptions. If you need to pick your child up early, it must be done prior to 3:30 p.m..
Also, we will NOT call students down to the office for early dismissal until the parent is physically in the office, has provided identification, and has signed the child out.
Parking lot rules have been established, shared and reiterated many times. There are still parents (especially in the mornings) who are not following rules, which creates major safety concerns for all. They are cutting in line, driving the wrong way, parking in the looping lane -watching their child walk all the way into the building etc. I am looking for volunteers in the mornings to assist with keeping our Taft family safe! We will have a TAPS parent meeting on October 4, 2023 @ 4:30 p.m. Please join us.
