Principal's Message
Happy rainy Friday! If you're like me, the rain is a welcome relief from the high heat we've had over the last few weeks. Though it'll be short-lived, I love seeing the rain drops. While it also brings a unique energy to our students, they continue to be the awesome kids that we know them to be. As I visited classrooms this week, I focused on our social studies classrooms. Students shared culture bags, an activity where a student shares a favorite quote and five items from home that represent who they are. It allows classmates to better understand their peers, their interests, and appreciate similarities and differences. Other classes learned about the 13 original colonies and presented interactive posters, worked on writing and supporting details, and engaged in conversation about the challenges of living in the early 1600's.
A few other items:
~ Thank you so much to the many families who have contributed to our PTMS fundraiser. We are off to a great start, and are now over the $20,000 mark. Our hope is to hit $75,000 this year, and please know there are still two weeks left to contribute.
~ Monday September 12 is make-up picture day.
~ Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15. Here is a great resource to learn more http://www.hispanicheritagemonth.gov/
~ On Tuesday September 20, our PTMS music program has the distinction of playing the National Anthem at Petco Park prior to the Padres game. They are very excited for the opportunity and we know that they will represent PTMS well!
~ Many of our students like to go to high school football games on Friday evenings. It's a fun way to end the week, show support, and interact with friends. We also need your help in reminding your student about behavioral expectations. The TPHS administration has asked us to share this reminder with your child prior to attending the next home game. While all students are welcome at sporting events, it makes for a much more positive experience when we remember to be our best selves.
Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!
In gratitude,
Scott Wild

Donate to the ASB /PTSA Fundraiser by September 23rd!
PTMS launched our annual fundraiser, which supports both the Associated Student Body (ASB) and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), and we’ve already raised over $20,000 in contributions so far. Our fundraising goal is $75,000.
We’re hoping to get a donation in the amount of $180 for every PTMS student, which equates to $1 dollar a day for 180 school days ($180). Parents who wish to increase their donation are welcome to contribute either $2 a day ($360), $3 a day ($540), or help support PTMS families in need by helping make an additional donation on their behalf of $180 … or any amount you can give.
The goal of the fundraiser is to support many programs that will touch each and every one of our students. Is your child planning on going to a school dance or PTMS graduation this year? Does your child ever visit Academic Power Hour? If so, they will be recipients of our fundraising efforts. We need your help, so please take a minute to click on this link to donate. You may also drop a check off to the front office by September 23rd.
Don’t forget - Homerooms are competing to see who can raise the most funds with prizes. In addition, if we hit the first milestone goal of $25K in donations, all students will participate in a Donut Day celebration. Thanks for supporting PTMS!
Counseling Update
The first semester add/drop deadline is approaching. Level change requests in English and math can be made with your counselor through September 13, 2022 and will be honored if space is available.
At PTMS, we will recognize the week of September 19 as Suicide Prevention Week. On September 19, we will meet with all of our Wolves through PE classes to discuss protective factors, warning signs, and how to get help. California State Assembly Bill 2246 requires this very important information be made available, but if you prefer to Opt Out your student, please click here.
Career speakers - We are still collecting the names of those parents who are interested in coming in to give a short presentation on their chosen career. Thanks to those of you who have already responded - we haven’t forgotten about you! In the past, students have expressed an interest in finding out about a career as an artist, professional athlete, video game designer, fashion designer etc. If you are interested in helping out, email Samantha Eels-Taylor.
Computer and Connectivity Opportunities for Students and Families - Families can take advantage of two opportunities to lower their technology expenses and help their students with computer access this school year: receiving a laptop or desktop for $100 and/or qualifying for a monthly discount off home internet. Low-Cost Computers Available at Sept. 17 Event / Discounted Home Internet Program
