Attea Band Alumni!
Introducing this week's Flyer Band Alum: Geno Porter!
Attea Graduation Year: 2006
What instrument did you play at Attea? Alto Saxophone
Did you play at GBS? Unfortunately, I moved to Charleston, SC after graduating from Attea.
Favorite Memory?
Performing a solo in "Amazing Grace" with the Symphonic Band during a competition. I also enjoyed playing during assemblies and pep rallies. It was always exciting to play in front of my classmates that were not in band.
Where do you go to college? The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina (Charleston, SC)
What do you do?
I am a senior cadet-student-athlete at The Citadel. My degree will be in Electrical & Computer Engineering. I am an All-Conference athlete competing in throws on the Track & Field Team. I work part time as a project engineer (in training), and I work security on the weekends downtown. I also serve as a mentor to several teens in the local community.
What are your plans for the future?
During the summers I participated in power, manufacturing and construction internships.
There are several career paths I am debating:
A. Work at the steel mill as an Electrical Engineer.
B. Work at the power company as a Power Engineer.
C. Serve as an Electrical Project Manager for one of the world's largest data centers.
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Geno!

Parents are invited to visit the band room.
Parents are encouraged to attend any rehearsal from 7:20-8:15 to see exactly how middle school band musicians learn and rehearse music. Even if your child is less than eager to practice at home for you, visitors will see how much our musicians love playing their instruments with a group. An audience makes it even more fun!
