Family Partnership Days

Family Partnership Days provide time for parents, teachers and students to discuss academic progress and your child’s social-emotional development together. It is important that all parents attend with their students as they are equally important in building strong partnerships.

There is no school on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Drop-In Conferences:

Teachers will be lined up "arena style" at tables in the commons and gym.

Monday, November 21st from 4:30pm to 7:30pm

Tuesday, November 22nd from 8:00am to 4:00pm

To help us plan, please choose a timeframe that works best for your family by clicking on the Sign-Up Genius link here. Even if you do not sign up, we still welcome you to come meet your student's teachers!

News & Updates

Principal's Message: Family Partnership Days

Greetings HMS Families,

I am excited to see many of you during conferences on Monday and Tuesday! We encourage you to bring your student with you as they are an important part in this partnership opportunity. If you haven’t signed up yet, please choose a time that works best for you. This doesn’t guarantee a one-on-one meeting with a teacher at this particular time, but will help us prepare how many families to expect; here’s the link to sign-up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f49a4ae2fa6fac16-hazelbrook4

Also, if something comes up and you’re unable to make the time you signed up for, no problem at all! Feel free to join us whenever you can - your partnership is the most important thing.

Lastly, with the colder weather, we have noticed quite a few more families picking up students at the end of the day. I’d like to ask for your help in modeling kindness for our students by showing patience to one another and not raising voices or honking at one another - we understand the parking lot can become quite congested, making it difficult to easily move through. You can help with the flow of traffic by not parking in the center of the parking lot, rather please pull to the right hand side so others can pull out and around you when they have their students. Please use the lower lot and do not block the driveway.

Thank you for your help and cooperation and we look forward to seeing you soon!

With gratitude,

Lisa Dailey

HMS Principal

—-----------------------------

Lisa Dailey

Holiday Help

Tigard-Tualatin School District

Note on Holiday Help 2022

Due to competing demands on school staff time, many Tigard-Tualatin schools will not be able to continue to coordinate holiday help. We want to be sure that our students have the attention and supports that they need all year long including caring connections with staff, high quality instruction, and support services as well as connection to basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and other community resources. Coordinating holiday help takes a surprising number of staff hours! We sincerely apologize for any hardship this might cause. For families needing connection to other community resources, please reach out to the Family Partnership Advocate at your child’s school or the Family Resource Center at 503-603-1585.

We are so very grateful to all of our generous community partners that have donated to the holiday help program for so many years. We hope that you will continue to support our efforts to help our students and families all year long with basic needs.

Here are some ways to help:

Clothing Donations are accepted at the shed at the Tigard Grange 8am-4:30pm seven days a week at 13770 SW Pacific Highway, Tigard, Oregon 97223.

To donate funds for clothing, please visit: https://or-tigardtualatin-lite.intouchreceipting.com. From the drop-down school menu, choose “Tigard-Tualatin School District Office”. Then select “Caring Closet Donation” under the item.

Gift Cards may be donated at the front office of any TTSD school. “Family-friendly” gift cards from Winco and “Charitable” gift cards from Walmart are a wonderful option.

School Supplies: To donate funds for school supplies, please visit:

https://or-tigardtualatin-lite.intouchreceipting.com. From the drop-down school menu, choose “Tigard-Tualatin School District Office”. Then select “TTSD School Supplies Donation” under the item.

Winter 2023 ASA Sign Ups

Sign ups for Winter ASAs will open on November 30 and close on January 6.

Sign ups will now be completely online! After the opening date, you'll be able to log into the TTSD Online Store to sign up.

The online process will include the signup form, a liability waiver, a Covid-19 waiver, & payment. If you are unable to complete these online, your student can turn them in in the main office or email the forms to: HazASA@ttsd.k12.or.us

There is also an option to purchase a basketball or wrestling shirt. Shirt sales will close on December 14.

Additionally if you'd like to donate to sponsor a student or to help the ASA program, you can now donate online. (We also recommend creating an account and logging in now so you don't run into problems later.)

Any questions related to ASAs should go to Gavin Harrison: gharrison@ttsd.k12.or.us.

Big picture

To report an absence, please call the attendance line directly and leave a message: 503-431-5121

Attendance Frequently Asked Questions

These FAQ's can also be found on the Hazelbrook website.

  • What number is the attendance line?

503-431-5121

  • My student has an appointment and needs to leave early or arrive late. What should I do?

If a student must leave early you must come in and check in to the main office to sign out your student. No need to call ahead! Please expect a wait of 5 to 10 minutes to locate your student and to allow them to gather their belongings. Students may only be picked up by a legal parent/guardian, an emergency contact, or a previously approved pickup person.

If a student returns to school in the middle of the day, they must report to the main office to check in with the attendance secretary. If they were at an appointment, please call the attendance line to report the reason so that it may be excused (503-431-5121). At check-in, they will receive an admit slip to class. An adult does not need to come into the building with them.

  • Can I call ahead so my student will be ready and in the office when I arrive?

Unfortunately, no. We will not pull students out of class before their parent/guardian arrives. We would like to ensure that students are in their classes for the maximum amount of time possible and we don't have much waiting room in the main office. We suggest that parents/guardians arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the desired leave time so our office staff has time to locate the student and allow them to gather their belongings. You will need to come into the school to sign your student out. During that time, we will pull them out of class and send you on your way!

We will not send students out of the school without a parent/guardian present. This is a safety issue and it is our responsibility to release student into the appropriate adult's care.

  • What happens if my student feels sick during school?

Students must go to the health room in the main office if they are not feeling well. Your student will ask their teacher for a pass and come to the health room where the school nurse or office staff will assist them.

Please encourage your student to let an adult know that they are not feeling well so our nurse or health assistant can assess and help them feel better. We will give you a call if they need to be picked up.

If the student needs to go home, they must be signed out by a parent/guardian in the main office for safety reasons.

  • I reported my student's absence, but I still received a call stating that my student was absent.

This probably means that our attendance secretary was overloaded with calls in the morning. They will get to the calls and fix the absences by the end of the day.

Fee Reduction Request

Families unable to pay a fine can request a fee reduction off of their student's account for any broken or lost school materials checked out to them.
