Invest In Your Child

NO… It’s NOT TOO LATE to join the PTA or donate to Invest in Your Child! Please see the attached flyer for membership & donation details. Every donation counts! Did you know that the PTA spends approximately $70 per student each year? That is why it’s SO important to have 100% participation. It benefits ALL students. We are happy to tell you where your money goes… just ask! Questions? Contact Aimy Young at We couldn’t do this without the support of all our families. Thank you!

Community Forums

Northville Public Schools Board of Education is hosting community forums to share information about the bond proposal which will be on the November 7th ballot. Winchester parents are invited to Meads Mill Middle School on Tuesday, October 3rd to learn more about the upcoming bond. Because Winchester children attend Meads Mill, you might be interested in a Meads Mill tour! Interested parents may join us for the tour at 6:00 PM. The bond informational program will begin at 6:30 PM. Please see the attachment for more information. We hope to see you there!

National Walk/Ride Your Bike to School Day

Winchester is participating in National Walk and Ride your Bike to School Day. This event takes place on Wednesday, October 4. Ms. Haite, Mr. Dicken and Mrs. Lindsay will be outside in the morning to greet students who are walking or riding their bikes. Students who participate will receive a special Winchester Winner slip. Students will write their name on this special Winchester Winner slip and turn it into the school office. Ten students will be selected from all the slips turned in to earn free play time in the gymnasium during lunch/recess one day!

Did you know walking to school improves your overall health by increasing your physical activity? It is also a great way to reduce greenhouse gasses that pollute our environment. We hope you will join this great celebration of health and well-being.

It's Time to Skate!

Family skating parties are back. Join us at Skatin Station for our first party of the year on October 3rd from 6-8pm. Admission is $6 and Skate Rental is $2. Feel free to bring your own skates or blades! Don’t forget to wear your sticker for a FREE drink. Stay for dinner! A pizza and 4 drinks is available for $16. for questions: Aimy

Get Ready for Jump Rope Club!

The Fall Social Is Coming – Volunteers Needed

The Fall Social is Friday, Nov. 3 and I need help to make this event a success. Right now, I need 3 parent volunteers to manage the:

Cake Walk - Make numbers, send reminders and requests for cakes, set up for event that night. Students will work the walk the night of Fall social.

Basket Raffle - Communicate with teachers for volunteers, communicate with classrooms on themes, collect baskets and take them to get wrapped (we have someone to do this), organize list and value for each basket, and set up the night of event. I will be helping with this too!

Food - We have a list of what we need. We need someone to pick it up, work with Pizza place and set up the night of event. High School NHS students will serve food the night of event.

More parent volunteers will be need for 1-hour time slots the night of the event to sell tickets. Request will come later for that! Thank you! Holly Jones

Victorian Clothing Exchange

Don’t let your Victorian Clothing take up valuable space in your closet – donate them for future use. You can place clothing in the bin in the main lobby within the next two weeks. We’ll store them over the winter and make available for the 2nd graders before their spring field trip. Thank you for supporting Winchester’s Victorian Clothing Exchange Program!

Dragon Flyer (School Newspaper)

Calling all writers and illustrators! Winchester's school newspaper Dragon-flyer Junior flies again! We will be meeting twice a month from October until the end of February on Thursday after school. Our theme for this year is Camp Winchester and the 7 habits. We love to include short stories, travel blogs, cartoons, jokes and puzzles in our editions. We also play lots of fun games in our meetings too. Interested? Please contact Sarah Lepschy to be added to our group and to receive further information. Looking forward to seeing you in print!

After School Coding Class

Winchester is offering an after school coding class for 3rd-5th graders in October. Please see the attachment for more information on the program.

PAL is a PTA-sponsored program that provides support at lunch from 11:45 am - 12:35 pm. This is a great opportunity to be present in school for your child, while providing valuable support to Winchester staff on the playground and in the lunchroom.

If you have questions please contact: Nicole Finkbeiner

There are a lot of spots still available. You can sign up for as many days as you'd like.

*Must have an approved iChat form on file to volunteer*

SLOW DOWN Around the School!

For the safety of all students please remember the following:

· The speed limit on ALL streets surrounding the school is 25 mph. We have a lot of students that walk to and from school. It is unsafe for them if you are speeding down the side streets.

· When exiting the school parking lot, it is LEFT TURN ONLY. Again, this is for the safety of all our students.

· When you see walkers/bikers, please SLOW DOWN and be courteous.
