We are quickly approaching the end of the third quarter. Our students are continually showing growth and we will review our end of the third-quarter data to share with you.

We are currently working on re-registration for our Bethune students. If your child is on the list to return, you should have received a letter on February 27th. There is a commitment letter and a form for On My Way PreK. Families who are approved for On My Way Pre-K will have the first opportunity to register. We have very limited seats for next year. Please return the requested forms for returning students by March 13, 2023, so that we can begin the process of securing your seat.

On March 2, 2023, we will have guest readers at Bethune. Our readers are from the Gary Literacy Coalition and they will be on campus to read books for a Read Across America event.

On March 16th we will have Parent/Teacher conferences. This will be a learn-at-home day for PreK scholars. Please expect a packet for your child the day before Parent/Teacher Conferences. Conferences may be scheduled between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

We will host an online fundraiser for Jelly Belly Jelly Beans beginning in March. 13th and ending on March 27th. The funds raised will go toward the end-of-the-year student activities. Our Perfect Attendance Celebration for February will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at 8:30 AM on March 9, 2023. Scholars with Perfect Attendance will be given tokens for the Book Vending Machine!

Spring break will begin on March 20th and will end on March 24th. All scholars can take school pictures on March 28, 2023. The School Spring pictures will begin at about 9:00 AM. Students may dress up for the pictures.

We have a new gym floor and play structures in the gym at Bethune!

We are working on letter recognition at Bethune. We want all of the students to recognize upper and lowercase letters. We also give chances for the students to use their letter knowledge and ask them to write in their journals. The students use their knowledge of letters to write and tell about their drawings.

Below are some things you can do at home to support letter recognition and writing.

It is time to re-register if you plan to send your child back to Bethune E.C.D.C. next year. Commitment letters were sent home on February 27, 2023. Please return the Commitment Letter along with the application for On My Way Pre K. Scholars who are On My Way PreK recipients will be given first preference for re-registration. Please come to join us on March 16th during Parent/Teacher Conferences so that you may submit your paperwork. We will meet with parents who wish to re-register from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Bethune Scholars will learn at home on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Parents are invited to visit teachers from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
