HEALTHY FUTURES CHALLENGE
Let’s Get Moving! The Healthy Futures Challenge is a program that helps your child build strong bones and muscles by playing for 60 minutes every day. Your child records their physical activity on the Healthy Futures Log and turns it into their teacher at the end of the month and earns prizes. The Challenge takes place in the months of January, February and March. A letter explaining the program and the activity log for January was sent home with all children on Monday, January 7th. Below are copies of the letter and activity log.

4th grade will be participating in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on January 31, 2019. This test is given to 4th and 8th graders across the nation. Students will be assessed in either math or reading and the results are released as the “Nation’s Report Card”. A letter was sent home with all 4th grade students on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 and is also available in this newsletter. If you have any further questions please contact Mrs. Lovelace at 892-9714.

NURSE RX
LICE
Please check your child daily as this is the only way to keep these little guys from getting out of control. Remember if your child has it - it is imperative that the nurse checks them when they return to school after they have been treated.
If you have questions please call nurse Moore at 892-9705.
WINTER GEAR
Children should be bringing all their winter gear to school each day. If the temperature drops to -10 degrees there is no recess. The gear is still essential for waiting at the bus stop, riding the bus as buses do break down, and with the sub zero temperatures it is important all children stay warm.
Winter gear includes coats, snow pants, boots, gloves, and a hat.
Another concern is if we have to evacuate the school due to an emergency it would be best if the children had warm weather gear.
If you have questions or concerns please call nurse Moore at 892-9705 or e-mail me at nancy.moore@matsuk12.us.
Thanks for sharing your children with me,
Nurse Moore
