AMCS Updates
Midterm Grades
Reminder to check midterm grades for UAA classes on UAOnline. If you are concerned about a class, please reach out to your professor, your UAA advisor, AMCS teachers, or Mrs. Rawlings. We want to help!
Alaska Performance Scholarship - Seniors
For the graduating class of 2020, the State of Alaska is waiving the ACT and SAT requirement for Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) eligibility this year, and GPA will be the determinant of the award level. The requirement is being waived due to the ACT and SAT tests cancellation across the country.
Transcript Requests
To request high school transcripts for personal use or to be sent to a college/scholarship/organization, please complete the information at this link. Ms. Woods will receive the information and process your request.
Spring Sports/Activities
The Alaska School Activities Association announced cancellation of all 2020 spring events, championships, regular season contests and practices. This decision applies to the following: All-State Art, Esports (Spring Season), Solo & Ensemble, Track & Field, Soccer, Baseball and Softball.
Refunds
ASD is working on a process to refund second semester class fees, activity fees, and parking passes. This process would be done through the affiliate schools if a student has paid a fee to them.
Summer School
ASD Summer School information is not yet available. Once we receive it, it will be sent out via email and posted on the website. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for information on how to sign up, if interested.
Tech Needs
If you are finding that you are lacking access to adequate technology, the school district may be able to help. Please let your AMCS teacher or Mrs. Rawlings know. If you are lacking adequate internet, several local providers are offering assistance. For more information about these offers, click here.
UAA Parking Permit Refunds
If you have purchased a parking permit for the 2019-2020 academic year or 2020 spring semester, you may be eligible to receive a partial refund for your spring parking permit due to the COVID-19 campus response. The refund amount is based on the original purchase price and must be credited back to your original payment method. No cash refunds will be given.
Semester permit partial refunds will range between $10-$30 per account and will vary depending on the permit type purchased and the original purchase price.
All refund requests forms must be received by 5 p.m. on May 8, 2020 to be considered.
Caps & Gowns and Senior Sweatshirts
There are several cap & gown sets and a few senior sweatshirts still waiting for pick-up. Please email Ms. Woods to arrange pick-up.
UAA Withdrawal Deadline Extended
UAA W/D Deadline (This should always be a last resort)
The UAA withdrawal deadline has been extended to Friday, April 10th. Students are encouraged to try out their online classes before making a decision to withdraw.
Students who decide to pursue a withdrawal, will need to:
make sure they submit a progress report (with a screen shot of their blackboard grades
contact their UAA advisor (Heather Brekke or Tamika Dowdy)
complete the withdrawal reflection form (with parent/guardian signature)
email the form to Mrs. Rawlings for approval, and then
upon approval to withdraw, complete the w/d process with their UAA advisor.
Teacher Updates
Rader's Realm
I have sent out two messages using student contact information in Q to students regarding Math Advisory. Some students joined me this morning for a Zoom meeting and others have contacted me by email. If you have not yet made contact with me during the last week, please send me an email with your first week’s check in and a good phone number I can use to make contact.
Math Advisory will have two components: (1) mandatory weekly check ins and (2) optional Zoom video tutoring. Please check your email for details on how to complete your weekly check ins (there is also information on how to make up missed Advisories from before spring break). Check-ins will start during the week of March 30 – April 2, but I’d be happy to get the first batch as early as you can manage.
There will be structured and unstructured tutoring time available. Initially I will be having open tutoring time on Monday through Thursday at 10am @ https://asdk12.zoom.us/j/786897998. For those of you who have classes at that time, I would be open to scheduling additional scheduled group time or we could just do individual Zoom if you need help.
Walton's World
Monday through Thursday from 11am - 12pm, Ms. Walton will be available for drop in help for all students. Drop in when and if you need help or just want to update how your college classes are going. The link to her Zoom office hours appointment will be the same for the next month: https://asdk12.zoom.us/j/609535249
Additionally, Ms. Walton will be available just for US Government students on Thursdays at 10am - 11am. The Zoom link for US Government office hours is https://asdk12.zoom.us/j/895080417
