Dual Enrollment - On Ramps (OR)
OnRamps works through a dual enrollment model. Using a hybrid delivery approach, students meet rigorous university-level college readiness standards and have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit from a UT faculty member and high school credit from their local teacher. All OnRamps courses can be applied to the Texas Common Core and are guaranteed to transfer to any public institution in Texas.
Advanced Placement Courses
Advanced Placement is a program run by the College Board (the makers of the SAT) that allows you to take courses at your high school, which may earn you college credit and/or qualify you for more advanced classes when you begin college.
Checking Your AP Score
AP Exams are administered the end of May. The results come in July.
New Legislature passed that colleges must accept a 3 on AP exams for credit. Colleges may award credit based on your AP score.
To check AP scores / College credit awarded:
1. Go to www.collegeboard.org
2. Click “For Students” at top of site;
3. Click on AP in “College Tests”;
4. Click on “AP Credit Policy Info” (on the left);
5. Enter the college name;
6. Click there for the institution’s AP credit and placement policy.
•You will be able to see what score is required on an AP exam to receive credit. You will also be able to see the course for which the credit will substitute.
Dual Credit
The Dual Credit program with Alamo Colleges and Angelo State University allows eligible high schools students to earn college credit for certain high school courses. In order for a student to participate, their high school must be approved to offer dual credit courses. Dual Credit students can take courses during the fall and spring semesters only
