Information for Parents
After School Pick up Parking Concern: Please do not park in the disabled parking spaces when coming to pick up your student. Our families with disabilities need to use those spaces and cannot when cars are parked there to pick up students. Please remember you must have a Disabled Parking Pass issued by the state in order to park in any of the Disabled Parking spaces.
End of the Grading Period: The end of the first trimester is Friday, December 3rd. There will be no school on Monday, December 6th so that teachers may work on grades. Report cards will be mailed home at the end of that week.
Lost & Found: Please have your student check the lost and found for any items they may have lost prior to Thanksgiving. Any items remaining after Friday, Dec. 10th will be donated.
Inclement Weather: As we move into the season for inclement weather, parents should know to check the District website for school delay or closure information. Parents are also encouraged to sign-up for the FlashAlert to keep updated on the most current inclement weather announcements.
SEF Clicking for Kids
The Sherwood Education Foundation (SEF) was formed to enrich and enhance the quality of education in the Sherwood School District by distributing funds through grants to individual teachers, and by funding programs that support the district’s vision for educational excellence. Because of community support, in the last five years alone SEF has awarded 98 teacher grants totaling over $220,000. Whether it's Sensory Paths, Ozbot Evo Robots, Spanish Fiction Books, a Forensic Microscope, or Drumline Replacement for the High School Marching Band, Sherwood Education Foundation is committed to being there for our teachers and their students.
Like many things this year, Sherwood Education Foundation's annual fundraiser Calling for Kids is going to look a little different. While it's the same great non-profit you know and trust with the same worthy recipients, Calling for Kids is now Clicking for Kids! The Sherwood Education Foundation’s continued success is only made possible with your support! 100 % of your donation goes directly back to funding teacher grants at all grade levels.
Please partner with Sherwood Education Foundation and donate today!

Prior Week's Information
6th Grade Elective Wheel: As a reminder, 6th grade students selected their electives based on a Wheel of options. Students will change electives at the end of each trimester which will end December 3rd. Many students and parents have forgotten which elective they will have next. Please see the linked chart for 6th grade 2nd trimester electives.
Please contact Mrs. Kopp with any questions. No schedule changes will be made.
SMS Food & Toy Drive: SMS will hold a Food Drive & Toy Drive beginning in December. The Food Drive will run December 6th through 10th. Students will earn points for their Flight Time class by bringing in items from the daily category. Please do not bring perishable items or items that need to be refrigerated. Also, open containers cannot be accepted. All other donations are greatly appreciated.
The Toy Drive will run from December 13th through 17th. Students will again earn points for items collected by their Flight Time class. Toys can be for children of all ages. Please do not wrap donated items.
At the end of the Food & Toy Drive, the points will be tallied and the two Flight Time classes with the most points will earn a prize for their efforts. All food items will be donated to the local food bank to benefit our community. We are partnering with the Fire Department to distribute the toys.
Portland Trail Blazers School & Family Night Tickets: The Portland Trail Blazers are offering discounted tickets in November and December for School and Family Nights. Please see the attached flyer.
