The MEA Student Leadership Team has begun planning the lunch court beautification project with the goal of making the area more inviting for students to meet, socialize, and build community. What changes would you like to see at the lunch table area by the auditorium? Please respond to this survey they created to share your ideas.
National Honor Society
Apply for the Mt. Everest Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS)! If you are in grade 10 through 12 and have a GPA of 3.75 or higher, have completed 30+ hours of community service, and have experience as a leader, you are invited to apply for the Mt. Everest NHS chapter. There is no cost, but there may be benefits in gaining access to scholarship opportunities. See information, including a pdf of the application form (print and turn in a "hard copy") on Dr. Rodenberg's teacher page (link below). Turn in your completed application to her in Room 2 by no later than 3pm on Friday, February 24.
Spring Club Fair
MEA will be hosting a Spring Club Fair Mar. 1st & 2nd, during lunch, in the Auditorium. If you are new to the school or just want to try something different during second semester, the MEA Club Fair is a great place to see what is happening on campus!
This Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7pm, in the Auditorium, Academic League will compete against Our Lady of Peace.
Come out and cheer on your classmates!!!
Miniature Painting Workshop
The D&D Quest Club is hosting a miniature painting workshop this Friday from 9-11 in the MakerSpace. Miniatures are often used in Table Top Role Playing Games (TTRPGs), like Dungeon and Dragons, as a way to make the game more immersive. We will have a selection of miniatures on hand, from heroes to monsters, for students to paint and you are free to take one of the miniatures home that you finish.
You do NOT need to be a member of Quest Club to attend. Workshop is open to students in grades 6-12. To ensure we have enough supplies on hand, please fill out the interest form linked below.
There are many ways for students to get extra academic support at MEA, on either on campus or via Zoom. Students can receive the support they need by attending PALS Tutoring, meeting with our UCSD Tutors, and/or attending their teacher's office hours. Please refer to the link below for further information.
His door is always open, but to ensure he is available when you can meet, make an appointment at the link https://calendly.com/mt_everest_counseling/meeting
The link below has some great opportunities for students in grades 9-12.
Yearbook Cover Contest
Students in Grades 6-12 are invited to enter our 2023 MEA yearbook cover contest. Entries are due by the end of Month 6. The winner will receive a FREE yearbook and their artwork will be displayed on the front cover! Even if your entry is not used on the cover, it may still be used in other places throughout the book. See the linked flier for more information.
Show us your spirit! We’re looking for all things spirit: team spirit (world cup, world series, Superbowl) and school spirit (spirit days, MEA gear).
MEA is all about perusing your passion and we want to feature that in the yearbook. So send us pictures of you and your classmates Pursuing Your Passions. Whether it's music, art, dance, athletics, philanthropy, advocacy, debate, and so on, we want to see it.
School Site Wellness
The MakerSpace will have modified hours this week
All students are welcome. K-5 students must be accompanied by a parent.
Calling all Artists
Hello, young artists at MEA. If you are looking to publish your work in a magazine, this is the place for you. Heights is MEA's literary magazine that offers a platform for young artists to amplify their voices and share their work. We are accepting submissions of original work for our winter issue now. We accept art, poetry, short stories, essays, short films, excerpts from novels, and more. For this issue, there is an Open Book section which has no theme, and a themed section called New Beginnings. Works in this category could be about new changes, starting over, new ideas and discoveries, and/or new chapters in one's life. Your work will featured in our issues on the Heights website.
Check out the MEA's new club page and answer one of the following questions for a small prize. Come see Mrs. Keck when you are done.
1. If you are in a club, what do you enjoy about it?
2. What clubs are you interested in at MEA?
3. What club would you like to see on campus that is not currently here at MEA?
If you are in grades K-5, what clubs/activities are you looking to join when you get to middle school?
Last week, grades K, 1, and 2 celebrated Valentine’s Day by decorating their own mailboxes. After all the cards and treats were delivered, their boxes were overflowing!
The Ping Pong Tournament was in full swing last week. The tournament had quite the turnout, but it was Ryan H. who made it to the top spot.

We will not be carpooling or taking a bus, so please drop off your student at the above address, and pick them up again! Permission slips will be provided.
Mr. Spiegelberg will be attending, and possibly one or two more MEA teachers.
This is not a MEA sponsored event, however it is a great opportunity to gain volunteer hours! High school students who acquire 120 + volunteer hours are recognized for their hard work at graduation with a cord and call out in the program.
We have 15 spaces available. Volunteers ages 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult. One adult needs to attend for every 4 children.
