Math
We are continuing our measurement unit. We will focus on capacity and length in both customary and metric units. This means the students have to know how many inches are in a foot and how many cups in gallon. They will have to apply this knowledge to more complex problems.
The best thing to help them with estimating forms of measurement is for you to bring it up in real life. Ask your child how much they think something weighs or how long they think something is. Also ask them how much water they think a container can hold. These conversations will help them apply these units and give them more exposure.
Please let your child help you cook or bake by asking them to measure items for you. Tablespoons, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons are easier to recognize when you have used them before.
Science
In science we continue with patterns of Earth. We will learn the moon phases and how they effect tides.
