Foundations for Leadership

Spring 2014

I'm so happy to be welcoming you to your first official course in the Degree Completion Program! Our class has several purposes:

  • To help you get acclimated to college-level courses again -- particularly online courses!
  • To help you hone your skills in academic writing and MLA formatting, so you will be prepared for your more difficult, academic courses to come.
  • To help you discover the most important elements in building an excellent foundation for leadership.

I am here to guide and assist you, so that you will be completely ready to move ahead into the rest of your coursework and be successful!

As we begin, the most important thing you can do to get a good start is to download, print, and thoroughly read our Course Outline. This is crucial, as the Outline explains all assignments, academic expectations, and grading policies for the course.

Next, please stop by the Introductions Forum and follow the directions there. I am looking forward to finding out more about each of you!

After completing these tasks, you will be ready to start our Week 1 assignments. One thing I want to emphasize right from the beginning: you are not here simply to study or pursue an academic degree. You are here because the Lord has called you (and me) to come together as a learning community - a small microcosm of the larger community of the whole Body of Christ.

Therefore, be sure to start each Monday by spending a few minutes worshipping and responding to the week's worship song. This is a crucial element of our course. Although we will not be participating in this together physically at the same time, we will be together in spirit. :-)

Again, welcome! I feel privileged to be walking alongside you on this journey. Please e-mail me if I can help you in any way.

Blessings to you,

Dr. Sande
