Anniston Bazar, along with her mother, Reesa, and brothers spoke to the Beta Club on Leukodystrophy Awareness. Rocks were painted and placed in the community to spread awareness to Leukodystrophy.

EAST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
East elementary showed their school spirit during homecoming week.
East Elementary recognized students for demonstrating "Super Behavior" and being a "Super Student".
EUNICE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
The EJHS Sparkles and cheerleaders were participants in the EHS Homecoming parade on Thursday, September 13th. They enjoyed cheering the Bobcats on to a victory against the Rayne Wolves and sharing candy with parade goers.
EJHS held its first pep rally and football game of the season on Tuesday, September 18th. Parents and students welcomed the football team as they were announced and heard from Head Football Coach Laquintin Lamb. The pep rally also had performances from the cheerleaders, Sparkles and the EJHS Band. The Bobcats were victorious over the Sunset Panthers with a score of 26-6. We are looking forward to a great season; Go Bobcats!
GLENDALE ELEMENTARY
Ms. Manuel’s 1st-grade class made telescopes and learned how to locate the Big Dipper.
For the second week in a row Mrs. Francois’ 4th-grade class made the top perfect scores in A.R. This week they scored 24 perfect scores. Great job!

NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL
Northwest JAG Career Association held its 2nd Annual Initiation and Installation Ceremony on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Assistant Attorney for St. Landry Parish, LaDonte' Murphy, installed officers and members. JAG Career Association is a student-led organization that teaches members leadership skills, career development, civic awareness, social awareness, and community service. JAG Specialist for Northwest High is Mrs. Susan Mouton.
OPELOUSAS HIGH SCHOOL
On Friday, September 14 OHS students had the opportunity to talk to college representatives from UL-Monroe, Northwestern State, and the National Guard.
On September 6, 2018, OHS hosted a Parent’s Night. Starting with the 2018-2019 school year Opelousas High School volunteered to be part of a national program through Johns Hopkins to redesign our curriculum and practices in order to provide increased opportunities for our students after high school and increase graduation rates. Parent’s Night provided the opportunity to inform our parents where the school statistics are currently at and introduce the beginning of the process of increasing our national and state test scores. The OHS Parent-Teacher Organization also signed up new members. If you would like more information on the PTO please contact the school at 942-5634.

Students in Mrs. Richard’s 3rd-grade science class had a great time experimenting with balance.

Ms. Vidrine/Mrs. Jackson’s Pre-K class at Palmetto Elementary participated in a friends and pets group lesson by constructing a “Pet Party” floor puzzle. The children learned that just like the puzzle pieces, they are all an important part of the class especially when working together.

Nevaeh R. is The Louisiana Avenue McDonald's Artist of the Month. Nevaeh's artwork is featured in the September issue of Community Chronicles Magazine.
WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Washington Elementary held their Annual Grandparent’s Day with students honoring the grandparents in attendance. Grandparents were treated to breakfast on that morning.
Mrs. Denise Rose, former Washington Elementary principal, was the guest speaker for the school’s Annual Grandparents Day.
Students of Washington Elementary are engaged in the computer lab using ZEARN to boost their math skills.
DISTRICT
St. Landry educators recently attended the ELA Content Leader Conference. District teams from around the state are receiving training on a variety of ELA modules during these training events. Teams will redeliver these modules at the local level beginning in the spring.
