The EJHS Sparkles and cheerleaders were participants in the EHS Homecoming parade on Thursday, September 13th. They enjoyed cheering the Bobcats on to a victory against the Rayne Wolves and sharing candy with parade goers.

EJHS held its first pep rally and football game of the season on Tuesday, September 18th. Parents and students welcomed the football team as they were announced and heard from Head Football Coach Laquintin Lamb. The pep rally also had performances from the cheerleaders, Sparkles and the EJHS Band. The Bobcats were victorious over the Sunset Panthers with a score of 26-6. We are looking forward to a great season; Go Bobcats!

Northwest JAG Career Association held its 2nd Annual Initiation and Installation Ceremony on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Assistant Attorney for St. Landry Parish, LaDonte' Murphy, installed officers and members. JAG Career Association is a student-led organization that teaches members leadership skills, career development, civic awareness, social awareness, and community service. JAG Specialist for Northwest High is Mrs. Susan Mouton.

On September 6, 2018, OHS hosted a Parent’s Night. Starting with the 2018-2019 school year Opelousas High School volunteered to be part of a national program through Johns Hopkins to redesign our curriculum and practices in order to provide increased opportunities for our students after high school and increase graduation rates. Parent’s Night provided the opportunity to inform our parents where the school statistics are currently at and introduce the beginning of the process of increasing our national and state test scores. The OHS Parent-Teacher Organization also signed up new members. If you would like more information on the PTO please contact the school at 942-5634.
