Academy of the Arts at Bransom
May 30 - June 1 (Last Week of School)
A Note From Your Principal
Last week we finished up the K-3rd grade awards so this week, we will wrap up awards for 4th and 5th graders. Both will take place on Tuesday - 4th grade during the day and 5th grade in the evening at CHS. 5th grade teachers and students will wrap up their celebration with a dance back at our campus following the awards.
Wednesday will be so exciting for the Kinders through 3rd graders as they enjoy the on campus field day. This all day event requires a lot of planning and supervision. Thanks to Mrs. Moore and her crew, the plans are made and the basic volunteer crew will assemble Wednesday morning. Of course, more volunteers are always welcome. Contact Mrs. Moore if your schedule will allow you to help out.
Thursday is going to be a short day. Dismissal will begin at 11:45. Please make sure to make arrangements for picking up your child at this time. Teachers have a schedule for the afternoon and childcare is only available through our after-school care. If you need this care, arrangements and payment will need to take place prior to a child being dropped off.
As we wrap up this year, I can't help but think about the summer months. I hope that each Bransom family has already begun to think about how they will keep the skills the children have learned sharp and expanding. It is common for students to regress over the summer if they do not read regularly, participate in numeracy activities, and explore nature. These things keep students thinking and growing. It can take a long time for students to recoup lost skills so it's best not to lose them to begin with.
Keep checking the website to stay abreast of dates and activities that may help you and your family stay informed about our campus and our district throughout the summer. Finally, help your child stay as safe as possible. We have great explorers and wonderers and we want them all to return safe and sound in August. Of course we want our 5th graders to show up at their middle schools safe and sound as 6th GRADERS.
5th grade families, I know your children are so ready for 6th grade and middle school. It is always tough to send off our campus leaders but this year it will be even worse. This group of 5th graders have been amazing students, leaders, and willing participants in stretching our campus into an arts focused school. For this, we are so grateful.
In closing, I have to say "Thank You" to the parents, students, and community members who have helped the faculty and staff transition our school into the Academy of the Arts at Bransom. As we continue our journey, please keep in touch to offer ideas and support.
Forever thankful,
Mrs. Burchfield
