Penn Pride: We have. We are. Together.

Together ...

Together is our theme for the year. Together. We are all coming together from many different backgrounds and experiences. All students. All parents. All staff. As we each come from our own background, we only become community when we come together. Together we can learn, have fun, be safe and strong.

Just a couple pics from our first day. Click on each one for the caption.

There are a few more on facebook or at this link.

First day for morning preschool class is August 29.

First day for afternoon preschool class is August 30

Arrival and Dismissal

For a detailed explanation of drop off/ pick up routines use this link.

Here are the big ideas:

1. Students may arrive at 7:30 and go to breakfast or the gym.

2. Parents should always stay in/with your car. Use a parking spot if you need to come inside.

3. After school: k/1st graders are in front of the building with their older siblings. 2nd - 6th graders may be picked up in the north carline (between the school and park).

4. Be alert.

Bottom line: we want to be efficient, but our number one priority is student safety.

So, you might want to go on a field trip or volunteer at school ....

Would you like to become a volunteer at Penn or another school in the ICCSD? Or are you looking forward to helping with a field trip? The district requires that this form is filled out and that a background check is completed before anyone is allowed to volunteer or chaperone in the district. The application includes giving permission for the district to have the background check done. This process may take a couple weeks, so getting it done now will insure that you're approved when a field trip opportunity arises.

Some reminders about the the district wellness policy. You can read the policy and administrative guidelines at:

You can see the list(s) of examples of foods that are acceptable to share with other students for classroom celebrations or classroom snacks at:

A few things to remember:
1. All foods that are brought for classroom snacks, classroom celebrations, etc. must meet the Smart Snack Guidelines.
2. No home-baked foods for classroom celebrations or classroom snacks (to prevent exposure to food allergens).

School-wide materials wish list

There are some supplies we use school-wide that aren't on our school supply list. These are not required items, but if you'd like to help us out, we'd appreciate it. If you bring any of these items, you can drop them off at the PTO table during the Ice Cream Social or take them to the main office once school has started. We need:

  • Ziplock bags (mostly gallon size and some sandwich size)
  • Reams of copy paper
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Extra #2 pencils
  • Extra Dry Erase markers
  • Boys and girls underpants and sweatpants, mostly smaller sizes. New or gently used items appreciated.
