BTE Happenings

November 1, 2021

Hello, Ranger Families!

In grades 1-6 we are starting to wrap up our 2nd unit of inquiry! Scholars have been asking questions, finding places to take action, and learning about how they learn best as inquiry learners.

In Kindergarten we have started our How the World Works unit, and are excited about some volunteer opportunities our littlest Rangers will be taking part in.

Callie Janosky

IB PYP Coordinator

Here's what the learning has looked like in our classrooms over the last 6 weeks! So much inquiry, so much fun!

A 1st grade inquiry into story structure...

These scholars engaged in watching a video, talking with their peers about what they noticed, and then presented about the Beginning, Middle, and End of the video. They documented their learning on the "B M E" as well.

3rd grade See-Think-Wonder

Scholars engage in reflective thinking and questioning when working through a see, think, wonder activity. This helps make their thinking visible so that we can use it to inform our next steps in teaching and learning!

4th Grade Questions

We are cultivating a culture of curiosity here at BTE, and one way we do that is to document our questions.

Lone Rangers

We have officially deployed our Lone Rangers! Any time a visitor walks into the classroom, a designated Lone Ranger will greet them and explain the learning that is taking place. This scholar escorts the visitor to their learning board to explain the current unit of inquiry and how it connects to their current learning. These Lone Rangers are LEADERS! We are so proud of them and look forward to seeing all Rangers have the opportunity to step into this role at some point this year.

Get Connected with Toddle

Toddle is a new platform we will be using this year to communicate with you. Your teachers will send out newsletters weekly and before each Unit of Inquiry begins, so that you are aware of all the amazing learning that is happening in the classroom.

We will also use Toddle to collect student artifacts, that will come together creating a portfolio of some of your child's best work!

Students will be able to access the Toddle Student platform just as they did with Google Classroom. They can access assignments and even upload pictures, videos, or recorded sound clips to add to their portfolios.

Step 1: Download the Toddle Family App to your device

Step 2: Your teacher has your family invite. If you need it, reach out to your teacher or myself at callista.janosky@manorisd.net
