.it is a recessive disease, must have 2 copies of gene to show symptoms of the disorder

.there is a gene called GPR143 which cause ocular albinism

.In OCA2,SLC45A2,TYR,and TYRP1 genes that be know to cause other types of oculoctaneous albinism

.their is a type of ocular albinism that is carried on the x chromosome

.symptoms are can overlap but it all deals with vision and skin pigmentation problems

  • absence of color in hair, skin or eye
  • very light colors in hair skins or eye
  • Vision problems include: crossed eyes, sensitivity to light, rapid eye movement, impair vision or blindness, and an astigmatism

Test and Treatments

  • sunscreen to protect the skin from UV rays
  • There is no treatment that can fix the lack of melanin that cause albinism symptoms but doctors can on treat but not cure the eye problems and can chaperon the lack of skin color
  • .doctors look at a sample of a person's root hair and do a hairbulb test
