Birdneck Counseling Updates
February 2016
Happy National School Counseling Week!
I want to say a big THANK YOU to each and every one of you! I am so lucky to have a job that I love, in a school full of people who support a comprehensive school counseling program. I can't tell you how many of my colleagues receive push-back from their staff when it comes to scheduling lessons, collaborating on ideas, or even pulling kids who need to talk. You all are so wonderful to me and I couldn't do my job without you!

REMINDERS:
Visit my blog to stay updated on information I share with parents, including community resources and happenings that come across my desk! Feel free to include it in your communication with parents as well!
Please use our "Caught Being Kind" bulletin boards in the cafeteria when you see a student doing something kind! I have baggies of sea creatures outside my door that you can use to write their name and deed.
What to look for when choosing your citizen this month:
- They are truthful in all areas of life
- They do their own work and play by the rules, even when nobody is watching
- They always ask before taking or using something that doesn’t belong to them
- They don’t blame others for their mistakes
- They don’t hide the truth
Coming Up:
March - Cooperation
April - Self-Control
May - Trustworthiness
Fundraiser alert! SCA will be selling hands for Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness & Research starting Tuesday, February 9th and continuing the entire month. They will cost 25 cents each and we will hang them up in the cafeteria... let's see if we can connect!
Pennies for Patients is beginning on February 29th... stay tuned for a special flyer with more information coming out in a couple weeks!
