Top 10 Cardinal Celebrations
2. CIS is READY TO PLAY! The money was raised in less than a year and the playground was built in one day thanks to school staff, community volunteers and students. Students have been enjoying their new playground this week.
3. Congratulations to CHS junior, Logan Modlin, who was selected as a finalist in the Osage Valley Electric Cooperative's Youth Tour Essay Contest. Logan has earned himself an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C., along with high school students from across the country!
4. Shout-out to the CMS Bright Futures site council who has started "Bright Beginnings"...a weekly before-school team-building/leadership opportunity. Volunteers plan fun activities for those students who arrive to school before the doors open.
5. Congrats to the 40 Henry Elementary students who managed to stay healthy during 3rd quarter and achieved perfect attendance! These students enjoyed a special lunch this week catered by Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare.
6. Congrats to senior, Hannah Adams, who signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Central Methodist University.
7. CHS students had the opportunity to hear from Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler and several guest speakers on Thursday. Their messages focused on the real-life impact of drugs as well as encouragement to remain drug-free.
8. Our littlest Cardinals are painting the town BLUE! In honor of the Month of the Child, CECC students have visited buildings in the district and local businesses to leave their little blue handprints as a reminder of the importance of making a difference in the lives of children.
9. Thanks to the CHS JROTC students who planned and executed a week of fun team-building activities for CMS students this week. CMS students enjoyed flipping large tires, trying their hand at a rope bridge traverse, rope climbing and rifle marksmanship amongst other activities.
10. It was National Paraprofessional Day on Wednesday. The CSD employs 20 paras who play a huge part in making our schools amazing places for our Cardinals to learn, grow and achieve. Make sure you thank a para for all they do!

Employee Forum and Town Halls-Your building administrator sent you a calendar invite to your building's Employee Forum that will be held on Monday, April 9th after school. During this short meeting, you will be introduced to the draft of our district's new 5-year Strategic Plan. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback, before a final version is sent to the Board of Education for approval. Please make every effort to attend your building's meeting.
Town Halls will also be held on Monday for all community members. The Town Halls will be very similar to the Employee Forums, so if you are unable to attend your building's meeting, please stop by one of the two Town Halls. Town Halls will be held at 4:30 and 6:00 at the CMS Media Center.
Summer School-Earlier this week, Jake Kenney sent all staff a reminder about the informational Summer School meeting that will be held on Tuesday, April 10th at 3:45 in the Henry Elementary Library. Make sure you catch one of their two performances next week, on Thursday 4/12 or Friday 4/13 at 7:30 in the CHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students.
Screenings-Help us spread the word to anyone you might know who will have a child eligible to attend kindergarten or our early childhood program next school year.
Children who are 5 on or before, July 31, 2018 need to schedule a kindergarten screening by calling 885-5585. Children who are between the ages of 3-5, on or before May 3rd, can call 885-5845 to be screened for preschool.
Your help in spreading the word, is greatly appreciated by preschool and kindergarten teachers!
Last Day of School-Don't forget....due to 4 weather-related school closures, the last day of school for students is now May 22nd (early dismissal) and May 23rd for teachers.

Payroll and Benefits Info from the Business Office
Happy Friday, Clinton School District…
Just a quick note letting you guys know information regarding Open Enrollment will be communicated in detail shortly. I will be sending information via email. Open Enrollment will be handled a little bit different due to system requirements with MET, our health insurance consortium group. Your health insurance enrollment for July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019 will be done individually via MET’s online platform called Benefit Solver. We will then have normal open enrollment set up where you will meet in-person with AFLAC representatives to go over their products and also elect which payroll deductions for IRS qualified benefit/insurance premiums are pretax or after tax deductions.
For those contracted through August 2018 but not returning next year for the 18-19 school year, you STILL have to attend open enrollment.
Detailed information to follow shortly…just want to get it on your radar!
Have a great weekend!
Emily
