IA Newsletter: The Scorpion

October 2021

Principal News

Scorpion Families,

The start of every school year is always a blur, this year more than any other. My staff and I want to thank you for the bountiful support that we have received. We all take our jobs very seriously and are passionate about what we do. Having parent support makes the work we do all that more meaningful. We could not do what we do without you!

I am shocked that we are approaching the end of the 1st quarter and Parent/Teacher conference week is right around the corner. October 4-8 is conference week. Monday will be a regular day (9:00-3:30). Tuesday through Friday will be Early Out days, dismissal at 1:30.

Conference week is an opportunity to share the great things our students are doing, what they are learning, what they are excelling at, and possibly an area for improvement (we all have these).

Fall Break is the week of October 11-15. Enjoy the break! Have fun! Be safe! We are looking forward to a great 2nd quarter. Our teachers are already planning and preparing some amazing STEM learning opportunities for our students.

Sincerely,

Michael P. McConnell

Lost and Found

Lost items are being placed on the outdoor stage. Students walk by the outdoor stage several times a day. If a lost item has the student name on it, Mr. Priestle will attempt to reunite lost items and owners. Please put your child’s name on everything that they can set down, or take off. Lastly, if a mask is found, it is thrown away.

Digital Learning at HOME

The Amphi website has some great information on how to access your student's digital learning platforms at home. Click here to find out how to access the Innovation Academy bookmark, iReady, Waterford, Dreambox, and more!

Mark your calendars!

Library News

REMINDER! Please make sure your student keeps all library books away from water bottles in back packs! We have lost many books this year to water damage. A great way to prevent damage is to leave a Ziploc bag or plastic grocery bag labelled with your student's name in back packs for them to store their book.

To search the Innovation Academy Library catalogue, you can go to the library page found here: https://www.amphi.com/Page/22828 and click on the “Search” icon. Please make sure to select Innovation Academy from the menu.

When in doubt, give a shout! If you have questions about the books your student has checked out, library information, etc., please don’t hesitate to contact me at dspruce@amphi.com. I’m looking forward to another amazing year at Innovation Academy!
