Welcome Back 2018-19
We are excited to have the classrooms filled with students, after-school events, and seeing families enjoying the opportunities provided by the schools. We have a lot to offer students in and out of the classroom. Welcome back and have a GREAT year!

City of Linden Construction Update
I wanted to take a minute to update you on the current road construction, in downtown Linden, and how it may impact our schools.
I have been in communications with the City of Linden about the construction project. The City Manager has indicated that Bridge Street, the road in front of Linden Elementary will be back to two lanes (northbound and southbound) by September 4. The road will still be under construction as they prepare for asphalt to be laid. The traffic flow on Bridge Street will be slow, but with two lanes we should see a decrease in traffic back-ups. As motorists we need to be cautious, and patient as we enter and exit Linden Elementary.
The intersection in downtown Linden (Bridge Street and Silver Lake Rd.) will continue to be a challenge, especially with the anticipated increase in traffic once school starts. It has been communicated that construction workers will begin milling the north side of Bridge Street, in anticipation of laying asphalt, after Labor Day. There will be intermittent lane closures and traffic delays in the upcoming weeks. Again, we are asking for your patience.
Our transportation department is aware of the construction, and potential delays. Posted bus routes, and times, have been adjusted to reflect potential delays. With any type of construction, we cannot predict daily schedules. We are anticipating that our buses will make travel decisions based on the daily construction schedule, which we have no control over. These decisions will be based on getting our students to and from school in a safe and orderly manner.
In an attempt to decrease the traffic congestions at all of schools, we are encouraging parents to use the busing that is provided. To find out what bus your student rides you can contact our Transportation Department at 810-591-0996, or see a listing of bus routes and times on the districts website.
Additional information regarding the Bridge Street Rehabilitation Project can be found on the City of Linden’s website.

Transportation
Michigan State Law does not require a school district to provide transportation to and from school. The Linden Community School District, as a courtesy to the public, provides transportation to all in-district students (K-12). The Linden Community School District has established a one pick up one drop off policy. This means that a student must have the same pickup point Monday through Friday and the same drop off point Monday through Friday. The morning pick up location may be different from the afternoon drop off point.
Students in grades K-3 will receive a transportation card to help identify the correct bus for the end of the day drop off. Kindergarten students will return their transportation card as they exit the bus, and their card will be returned to their teacher the next day. For the 2018-19 school year, students in grades 1-3 will receive their transportation card, and we are asking that this card is secured to their bag or backpack. This will allow district staff to help your student get on the correct bus at the end of the school day.
For additional information please contact the Linden Community Schools transportation department at 810-591-0996, or visit their page on the District's website.
