Lakeshore Library Learners
August 2019 - Parent Edition
What is Going On at the Lakeshore Library??
I can answer that in two words: Great Things!
To be serious though, yes it's true, library class is not on the enhancement rotation anymore. While that sounds odd, it is actually better for our students; they are going to have constant open access to the library, while being able to learn library skills in context as I co teach with their teacher!
I will be planning and coteaching with all teachers as well as a resource for them and students.
The library will be open all the time for student checkout, makerspace, reading, or any other need they may have. It really makes the library the heart of the school.
All classes had library orientation last week and some are already utilizing open check out. I will run a report once a month for overdue books and try to go and encourage those students to come and get new books. You can help by reminding your child to go get a new book once they finish their current one. Our children are going to be reading so many different books this year!
Fall Book Fair - Coming Soon
This year we are trying a new book fair, Follett Book Fairs. The Follett company is actually where I order a lot of our books for the library. It is my understanding from other librarians that their book fair books are better bound, better quality titles, and a better selection. Please come join us on Family Night, September 24th, from 4-6 to see what you think.
