Greetings Champions,
Hope your weekend has been enjoyable. I know a Suns win tonight would make it just a little better (it you like basketball). Here we are heading into the final full week of school for the year. Be sure to mark your calendars that Thursday, May 26th is the final day for students and its a half day with dismissal at 11:30am. This last week was definitely a busy one, but also a very enjoyable one. We began with our KG-3 Champions slaying their final Dibels assessment showing just how far they've come in their reading ability. We are very proud of the progress they've made and owe a huge debt of gratitude to their teachers and staff that played such a pivotal role in their literacy education. Then on Tuesday our Band performed for a packed house showing off all they have learned this year including hit pieces from Jurassic Park and Star Wars. Well done Band students and thank you Mr. Abrahamson for all his hard work in preparing our students so well. On Wednesday, we welcomed our newest Champions to Carlson in style. Champ and our Cheer team welcomed them and teamed up for a Duet that even TikTokers would have been jealous of. Our Kinder teachers provided an overview of the Kinder curriculum and expectations for students as they transition from pre-school to the big leagues. Thank you everyone that attended and to the kinder team for such an informative presentation and warm welcome. After that, we rushed down to the MPR to see the hardest working Cheer team in Elementary! Led by Coaches Mrs. Murrieta and Ms. Johnson, the girls put on a showcase for their parents and guests highlighting all they've learned this year and the different routines and moves. I must say for our inaugural year, they have the program ready to compete at nationals in Florida already! Great job girls and thank you coaches for all your time and energy dedicated to our Cheerleaders. And just when we thought the week was winding down, it was time for our Orchestra to perform their Spring concert on Thursday. I can tell you after being around different programs and different levels, what Mrs. Hormiere does with our students is magical. They sounded like they've been playing their whole lives. She has a true gift for getting the most out of her kids and demanding excellence. Congrats to all that performed for another sold out show. You have exceeding all expectations and made tremendous growth this year. Thank you Mrs. H for putting in those long hours and your careful attention to detail and most of all creating unbreakable bonds with your musicians. Friday came and 5th grade was on full display as students presented their State Fair projects for their family members and other grade levels. It was nice to see our kids be able to teach so much about their state and gain invaluable practice in public speaking and presenting. Very impressed with all your presentations 5th grade. And we finished up with a Fairy Tale Live performed by the Murrieta Movie Stars. The Movie Stars recreated famous fairy tales from our childhood from the modern, relatable perspective of a Newscast and entertainment reporters. Great job 6th grade; you definitely lived up to your name and should be a front runner at this year's Oscars. I wonder if Will Smith is still eligible? Either way, you all were a hit!
Coming up this week; Our final Birthday Bookclub will be held on Tuesday at 2:00pm in the media center. Be sure to get your permission slip and money turned into Mrs. Whisler if you wish to participate. Thank you to all of the families that been so generous and donated to the program. Your contributions help fund the library to ensure we have plenty of copied of the latest and greatest books for kids to read. Then on Wednesday, the talent show comes to Carlson. It starts promptly at 9:00am in the MPR. Good luck to all our performers and thank you for being willing to share your talent with all of us. Then our 4th graders and 1st graders will be heading to their respective field trips. First grade is going to the Crayola Center and 4th grade to Harkins for an educational viewing with snacks. At least thats what I'm told. I hope you all have a great day and thank you to our parent volunteers for helping chaperone. That is a wrap for me, I hope you have a great Sunday and go Suns!
Kindly,
Mr. Morgan
