Science: Planets
Yes, we are still on planets and even though i forgot to send home the project information last week it will come home TODAY! Since I was late on handing out the assignment I have moved the due date from February 1 to Thursday February 4th. Please let me know if you have any questions and look out for the project directions!
ELAR and Mah:
This week we are continuing concepts from last week in both ELAR and Math. Students should be writing, editing and revising persuasive works and in math we are continuing with algebra concepts. Don't forget to have your students work on multiplication at home.

ELAR: Persuasion
This week in Reading and Writing we will be moving into the world of persuasion. How to tell what the author is trying to convince us of, his or her points and students will be writing their own opinions. Students will be looking at debates and several Scholastic News articles.
Math: Algebra Concepts
Math is again moving forward and onto new concepts. This week we will be looking at algebraic skills abad patterns in math. Please let me know if you have any questions and don't forget your student can log into Pearson to watch the learning videos, get more practice or play educations math games.
Science: Planets
I am sure your students have told you how excited they are about the science lessons right now. We are studying planets. Students will be asked to complete a foldable about each planet and have a take home project that will go home this Thursday. The take home project is due February 1. Students will be given time in class to work on their foldable, but since they may need EXTRA time I will also allow them to bring the work home. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Social Studies: Wants and Needs
Yes we are learning the great debate of wants vs. needs. Students will be learning about this topic in Social studies and have a foldable for this topic as well. Students will also be given class time for this, however, I will let them take these home also. Please know that we will also be covering a few math topics in this such as personal finical literacy as this directly connects.
NO SCHOOL: Monday January 25th, 2016
Yes, your students get another shot week next week. Please know there is NO SCHOOL Monday January 25th. This is a teacher in-service day for professional development. I am sure the kids all enjoy another long weekend.

ELAR: Writing a Friendly Letter
Next in ELAR (reading and writing) we will be learning about persuasion and writing friendly letters. Students may be brining home work for you to read and help edit. Something that students struggle with is elaborating their thoughts, or writing more about their ideas. Keep a look out for some letters from your kids.
Multiplication Manipulation
To ensure your students success this year, please take the time to practice multiplication facts. They are moving into math that is multi-step and difficult math, I don't want them to struggle because they know their multiplication facts as a recall. I have taught the kids some simple games they can even do, with just a dec of cards! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Martin Luther King Day
There will no school Monday January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Please have a safe and relaxing day and we will see you all back on Tuesday!
January 4th 2016
ELAR: procedural Text
In ELAR (reading and writing) students will be working with procedural text. This is text that tells the reader what to do or explains a process. Students will be both reading and writing procedural yet over the next couple of weeks! If you want to have them do this at home, have them write the steps to something then follow it exactly. Students will laugh about the steps they forgot!
Math Unit: More Multiplication
Yes, we are going to continue with multiplication for the next week. Students will be multiplying 10's and even 2 digit by 1 digit numbers. It is VERY important that students have their facts memorized. Please if you have any time to do this at home, it would benefit your students.
The Report Card Report
As I am sure you know December brought then end of the quarter, this means that last quarters grades are completed and in the grade book! I know your students worked hard last quarter and that should be evident on their report cards that come home THIS THURSDAY! Please keep an eye out for them and if you want to schedule a conference plea use the link below....
