Student Laptop Information
The Onslow County School System has been battling an extremely sophisticated virus attack on staff computers. Now we are seeing infections on student computers. As a result, we are taking the following action to prevent the infection from potentially spreading to any home networks. Effective immediately, student computers will not be able to connect to any wireless network other than the OCS network. Until further notice, and for your protection, do not connect student computers to your home network through either a wi-fi connection, or directly with a network cable.
Further communication will be distributed as it becomes available.
End of Grading Period

PTO Sponsored Dance
On Thursday, November 2nd, Trexler's PTO will host a school dance immediately after school. The cost of admission is $6.00 and concessions will be available. Parents may arrive early, but all rides should be at the school by 4:30 pm. As a reminder, the Onslow County School District has implemented new requirements for Middle Schools to ensure that student lunch accounts are paid in full. Therefore, students will need to be current on all accounts and school fees to attend school dances. Furthermore, students that have served ISS or OSS since September 29th are ineligible to attend the dance.
Benchmark Testing
With the end of the first grading period nearing, Trexler participated in several district developed benchmark assessments. All students were assessed in Language Arts and Mathematics, and eighth grade students also participated in a science benchmark. While these assessments do not count towards a student’s grade, the teachers are able to use the results from these formative assessments to help guide instruction. Teachers are busy analyzing the data provided from these tests to focus on areas of student need. If you would like information regarding your child’s performance on the benchmark, please speak with his or her teacher.

The AVID students had a special day on Friday, October 20th with Stacy Azzam. She is a Technical Production Trainer with Smithfield Foods. The students were able to learn how important farming is to the world and to our county, and they also learned about the various different careers that are available farming industry. Ms. Azzam was once homeless and began washing hogs, and she is now very successful in her career. This truly shows students how hard work and dedication can lead to a successful future. Additionally, the students learned the importance of never giving up on a dream.
