PE, Art, Library and Counseling are 45 minute classes. We need to put some protocols in place to help with the class management for these classes. These teachers are working with all 795 students. They do not have all names and faces memorized and the class they are assigned to. A new procedure that we are going to put in place is being done for safety and management. Any student logging on after 25 minutes from the start of PE, library, art or counseling will not be admitted into the class. When the teacher is sharing the screen, you cannot see all the students. It becomes extremely challenging to manage teaching and supporting students along with trying to manage students coming in late. These teachers are seeing different grade levels every 45 minutes and some students are coming in early and some are coming in late. In order to avoid students receiving the wrong lesson we are going to have a cut off of 25 minutes. We understand that you might be running late to one of these classes. If you are not able to log on within the first 25 minutes of PE, art, library or counseling, please go the Schoology page and complete the posted assignment. For PE there is a Deams folder with the daily assignments. Remember that all students receive a PE grade. Students in 2nd through 5th grade receive an art grade. Counseling and library are not graded. Thank you for your support as we continue to work through virtual learning.

4th and 5th Grade Laptops

Laptops for 4th and 5th grade students are finally here!!! EPISD has gone above and beyond for our kids. The new laptops that students will be issued are top notch!!! You will be impressed. All parents will need to sign the EPISD Parent and Student Responsible Use Agreement for PowerUp Devices. I have attached the forms below in both languages. Please read through the agreement. I have also attached the PowerUp Device Fee Schedule. Parents are responsible for all damages to the new iPads and laptops.

We will begin to issue 4th and 5th grade laptops on Monday. Parents can come through out the day to pick up a new laptop. Parents are required to turn in the campus issued iPad prior to receiving a new laptop. On Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:30 PM we will continue 4th and 5th grade laptop distribution. On Saturday, September 19 we will continue with laptop distributions from 9:00-11:00 AM.

If you come to pick up a laptop during the school day from 8:00-3:45, you will need to park and walk up to front of the building.

If you come to pick up a laptop from 4:00-5:30 or on Saturday, you will stay in your car. We will come to you.

Everyone coming to pick up a laptop MUST have the STUDENT ID number with them. We will not look up ID numbers for you.

When driving up, please have your child's first and last name and ID number written on a sheet of paper. This is just like we did back in May.

We sincerely appreciate your patience. All Apple products are on back order and this is the reason for the delay. Once you receive your new laptop, you will see that it was worth the wait.

By now all prek-2nd grade students should have a brand new iPad as well. If you have not picked up your new iPad, please come by the campus. Remember the old iPad needs to be turned in to receive the new iPad.

Why Is Social Emotional Learning Important at Home?

We encourage you to watch the following video about SEL for parents from the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). You will hear from SEL leaders, educators, and parents as they explain the long-term benefits of these important lessons. These benefits include managing stress, processing feelings, and resolving conflict.

Grandparents bestow upon

their grandchildren

The strength and wisdom that time

And experience have given them.

Grandchildren bless their Grandparents

With a youthful vitality and innocence

That help them stay young at heart forever.

Together they create a chain of love

Linking the past with the future

The chain may lengthen,

But it will never part…
