Andrew Jackson is a "Zero"
By Tess Dugan
Hero or Zero?
Andrew Jackson is a zero because he doesn't seem to care what the Native Americans think or what the constitution says. In my opinion, he isn't a very responsible president who knows how to manage his power.
Flaws
Jackson seems to use the power to veto too much and I think it's safe to say he's abusing his power. And we can't forget the time he ignored what the constitution said and forced the Natives to resettle. The Native Americans even made their own constitution, but that didn't stop Jackson.
Too Powerful
In the past, Jackson used the power to veto more than necessary. He vetoed almost every congressional bill passed. In the cartoon he's standing on the constitution showing it no respect and is dressed as a king because he's too powerful. In his hand he holds "the power to veto" which he isn't using responsibly.
Trail of Tears
Jackson made the Natives resettle in Oklahoma and most died along the way or got sick. Jackson ignored what the constitution said and went ahead and forced the natives to resettle. The natives could not resist and were resettled to Oklahoma with promises of medicine, food, and steamboats but to only be disappointed with low quality.
National Bank
Andrew Jackson canceled the national bank and spread the money throughout the states. However the rich didn't have their money anymore. They became less wealthy and it only benefited the "common man." The people who were wealthy and worked for that money are now struggling to pay daily necessities.
