September 30, 2022
Our mission: We are a community of learners inspiring each child to explore, grow, and achieve.
Message from the Principal
This coming week, student will be participating in a test called Restart Readiness. This is our second year utilizing this assessment provided by the Ohio Department of Education. Restart Readiness allows teachers to asses gaps in student learning after the pandemic and plan to remediate these throughout the year. Students will take this test on Wednesday and Thursday, so please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep and have breakfast on those mornings.
It's an annual Spelling Bee, History Bee, and Geography Bee. These are online assessments that students complete independently though Google Classroom. Winners get a trophy and a change to represent LMS at regional competitions. Last year we had three student qualify to Nationals in History and Geography.
The Book Fair will still be available to students during the school day through this Wednesday, October 5th. Students may shop during school hours each day. There will also be a Family Night during Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 4th from 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm. We will have games and prizes and two lucky student will get to pick out a free book! Profits from the book fair help to purchase books for the library. We hope to see you there!

Lakewood Local Schools Seeks to Pass Renewal Levy on November 8
On November 8, 2022, Lakewood Local Schools has a renewal levy on the ballot. This levy renews two existing levies into one ten-year emergency levy, and results in NO NEW TAXES for our taxpayers. The levies make up 24% of our annual budget and are crucial for the District to continue providing great educational and extra-curricular opportunities for our students, while also helping us maintain things like salaries, utilities and maintenance. The District works very hard to spend the money provided by our taxpayers responsibly, as evidenced by revenues exceeding our expenditures in the last fiscal year. To learn more about the upcoming Levy Renewal for Lakewood Local Schools, contact Superintendent Mark Gleichauf at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Treasurer Glenna Plaisted at email@example.com. Both also can be reached at our District Offices at (740) 928-5878. If you are interested in supporting the Lancer Pride Levy Committee, please contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
