Ms. Jackson's Pre-K Weekly Buzz!

NOVEMBER 4TH-8TH CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS

*This Week's Pre-K Objective*

Greetings Parents,

This week the classroom will be exploring James Vance Marshall's exciting story of "Red Riding Hood!" Students will be using the story to focus on mastering Pre-K Objective III.D.1.

By the end of the week your child will be able to:

1. Participate in acting out a story he/she is familiar with.

2. Retell and sequence the main events of a story.

3. Connect personal experiences to an event in a story.

4. Create an alternate ending to an original story.

5. Tell what might happen next if the story continues.

HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD AT HOME?

A great way to help your child at home is to simply discuss what they remember about the story "Red Riding Hood." Note: This assignment does not concentrate on the students acting skills! They will be graded on how well they remember the sequence of events in the story.

Students may also enjoy watching a video at home: Little Red Hood on You-Tube

You may also access this website to download a free copy of the book so that you may read the story to your child at home: http://www.gobookee.org/little-red-riding-hood-illustrated-story/.
