Happy May LDS Families!!

I wanted to take a moment and personally thank all of the families and students for making Principal's Day so memorable. Friday kicked off the weekend feeling like a birthday with flowers, coffee, cards, posters, performances, generosity from our families, PTO and staff. The gratitude was overwhelming. Though I am more comfortable and prefer to be the one to shower others with gratitude and appreciation, the day brought me many happy tears and smiles. Something very much cherished after this most unique year!

While the day was truly beautiful, I am grateful for every other day of this year as well. This school year has been nothing short of challenges, but many of them have helped us all to grow as educators, as human beings, and to have even more value for many of the things we have taken for granted over the years. I have always known how lucky I was to work side by side with your children every day. Gratitude for the dedicated staff, PTO, parents and community was always in my heart. However, this year more than ever we cherished every moment that our students were in school, laughing, learning, and doing things that we took for granted previously. While this year felt so very difficult in so many ways, it was truly remarkable to see the resiliency of our students and staff. It takes my breath away when I watch it in action daily. And this is exactly why Donovan Strong is the most fitting descriptor of our community. Thank you for all that YOU do for our school. We never could do what we do without your support.

Greetings LDS Families,

Have you heard the news? This week we are going to be celebrating our amazing LDS Staff for Teacher Appreciation Week.

It has been quite the year and there is no better time to show extra love and appreciation for our fabulous staff than during their special recognition week.

We are looking for our Tiger Cubs to bring sunshine to our school. Would your child(ren) be willing to send in a hand written note of thanks or appreciation for our teachers next week? Our goal is to post the notes all around the building to show how much they are appreciated.

We know how much the staff would truly appreciate this special touch! Feel free to be as creative as possible or keep it simple.

The most important piece is that it is from the heart and student created.

Please send in your notes/letters next week no later than Wednesday. It can be delivered directly to the teacher(s) you would like to show appreciation to and these rays of sunshine and love will be scattered throughout the hallways.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make Project LDS Signed, Sealed, & Delivered a success!

8:25-12:25 + afternoon instructionlog on at 1:50PM daily

It is extremely important to report if there is any change in your child's school attendance. While it is important to tell the teacher, we ask to notify the front office as well to avoid multiple phone calls home.

Let the games begin!!

What better way to kick off Memorial Day weekend than with a fun filled LDS Field Day?! This year, more than ever before, we are DONOVAN STRONG!! Our students will be sporting the LDS Field Day T shirts on Friday, May 28th. If you did not purchase a Field Day Shirt, any LDS or spirited attire is fine.

Mrs. Campfield, Mr. Cantelli and LDS Staff will be coordinating this year’s Field Day activities to continue to provide our students with a fun-filled activity oriented day. Due to the Covid restrictions , Field Day will run a bit differently this year, but it will not be short on FUN!

Students will compete in Field Day activities in a safe manner. Each student will be given their own personal equipment bag filled with equipment to use and keep! These amazing items were donated, bought by PTO or with credits from our Kids Heart Challenge. Thank you to Hazel Boutique for donating all of the frisbees!

We have developed a jam packed schedule for the entire day, but unfortunately due to Covid restrictions and district guidelines, we can not accommodate any visitors during the day.

Please remember that students should dress appropriately for Field Day and wear any necessary sunscreen. In addition, students should bring their own personal water bottle that is labeled with their name. In the event that weather conditions do not cooperate with us on Friday, the rain date will be Tuesday, June 3rd if needed.
