Hello Woodsy Owl Families,
I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful Fall weather. Report cards will be coming out soon. There will not be school on this Friday in celebration of Veterans Day. While Memorial Day in May is when we honor our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives, Veterans Day is our time to honor the heroes still her on Earth with us. Please take a moment and honor you family and friends that have given their all to support out great country. Thank-you VETERANS.
Have a great week!

We Need VOLUNTEERS!!!!
One hour a week can make a difference in the literacy of a child. Sight Word Busters, a Placer County 501(c)3, is recruiting volunteers for the 2023-24 school year. They provide all training and materials. If you want to make a difference in the life of a child, this is the opportunity for you!
This is a fabulous opportunity for a retiree or college student who is looking for a small way to give back to their community.
This program is taking place in all grades except 3rd grade. This is the first year they have expanded to TK. It only takes an hour per week and all training is provided. It’s a fun way to be in the classroom!
Please contact SHS @ 530-878-9473 or ParentSquare and message the principal.

Success Through Failure
Teaching a child how to deal with failure is quite a challenge. In the field of education we are seeing more and more children that meltdown when they experience failure. Not getting their way or finding out their name wasn't drawn in a drawing can send some littles down the temper-tantrum trail. As adults we know that in life failure is the one thing that cannot be avoided. How do we get our children to have high standards and work hard but not lose hope when they fail.
As Nobel Prize winning Irish Novelist Samuel Beckett said (and Mrs. Vrooman often quotes) “Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
Here is one article that I found interesting on the topic.
Have a great week and stay healthy!!!!
