Message from Principal
Congratulations to Alpharetta Annual Scarecrow Harvest Contest winner Scarecrow! Our Techie-Mutant Panda received Runner-up Award in Most Creative Category! Many thanks to Sunshine Students, Art Teacher Mr. Merina and our PVO!
I hope our parents and teachers had productive parent-teacher conferences on Friday. I would like to thank our parents for their involvement and continuous support for our students' progress.
Fall Festival is coming up. I would like to invite all of our parents to attend this fun day with their families on Saturday, October 17th. If you would like to be volunteer, don't hesitate to contact PVO.
1st Quarter is now completed. Report Cards for the 1st Quarter will be available online at Sunshine Connect on October 16th. You will be able to access soft copy of Report Card anytime you need.
School media center is accessible for AR Quizzes from 7:10 AM to 7:45 AM. We strongly encourage our students to read books and take quizzes on AR program. Students who can't take quizzes in the morning, can take quizzes on iPad (grades 3-5) or Laptop computers (grades 1-2) assigned to the classrooms during their Reading class.
Reminder: ITBS Test will be administered for our 3rd and 5th grade students from October 19th to October 23rd. Please see testing schedule and details below.
Have a great long weekend!
Sincerely,
Murat Cetin, Head of School
School closed on October 12th
ITBS Testing - October 19-23
- Please do not schedule any morning doctor's appointments during those dates for your 3rd or 5th grade children.
- Please make sure that your child arrives at school ON TIME, eats a good breakfast, and is well rested. If your child is late for testing, they will be kept in a separate room until testing is completed that day and will need to do a make-up test.
- In the interest of keeping down the general noise level in the building, NO visitors will be allowed into the building during the testing time.
Testing Schedule:
Monday, Oct 19: Reading
Tuesday, Oct 20: ELA
Wednesday, Oct 21: Math
Thursday, Oct 22: Science
Friday, Oct 23: Social Studies, Maps and Diagrams
Picture Retake October 15th
Picture Retake Day is next Thursday, October 15th. This retake day is for those who did not like the pictures they previously ordered (you will need to bring those pictures in with you in order to get them redone), want to order pictures that day (your student will need to bring money that day and give it directly to the photographer), or... if were absent on the first Picture Day. Not everyone will be getting their pictures retaken – only these three groups of students. Please make sure your child wears their red shirts on that day if they are planning on getting their picture taken. Flyers for Picture Retake Day are available in the front office.
Fall Festival - October 17
Fall Festival is on October 17th, Saturday. Watch out for communication on PVO website and your kid's folder. Clear your calendar, show up and have fun!
Please contact pvo@sunshinestemacademy.org if you would like to volunteer for Fall Festival.

Support Sunshine STEM Student Council for Socktober
Thanks to everyone that is promoting the Student Council sponsored event: SOCKtober. Our students began this endeavor hoping to help families in need in our local community. We wanted to provide families with something very useful that most may not think to give-- warm socks for the winter months.
We reached out to The Drake House (see link below) as they are doing great things to help families in our area. Yesterday, I received a call back from the director and she was thrilled that our students thought of The Drake House and the families they support. She stated that they would gladly accept any new socks. http://thedrakehouse.org/
Please help spread the word to anyone that would like to donate that we are now collecting new socks only.
SoulPancake asks that you share a picture of your donation drop-off on Twitter using #socktober and by sending email to socktober@soulpancake.com
