Lansing Elementary Weekly Update
Newsletter for the Lansing Elementary School Family
April 4, 2021
Happy Easter to all of our families who celebrate this holiday. It looks like we are in for some great weather this week!
In this issue please see information on options for virtual learning for the 2021-2022 school-year. Next school year, families that choose virtual learning will attend via the Greenbush Virtual Learning Academy. Information included under the parent resource section.
Please note a change to the calendar for April 9, 2021. This has been designated a teacher collaboration day and no school will be held for students. This is in response to Kansas Senate Bill 63 which all Kansas School Districts will offer a full time (5 days/week) on-site learning opportunity. If you are currently a remote learning student, you may choose to remain a remote learning student as you are through the close of the 2021 school-year. More information included in the parent resource section.
More information on the remaining calendar dates after the April Board of Education meeting on 4.12.2021. Have an awesome week!

Kindergarten Roundup 2021
All children aged 5 on or before August 31, 2021, can enroll for Kindergarten for the 2021-22 school-year.
Please let any parent with a child this age know we are enrolling NOW! Please don't wait until August. We have many families wait until August to enroll their child for Kindergarten. Please let family and friends know that it is very important to go ahead and enroll their child as soon as possible as it helps us determine staffing needs for the next school-year. We appreciate your help!

Greenbush Virtual Academy Information 2021-22 School-Year
Greetings from Lansing USD 469 to you and your family!
We are very pleased and excited to share with you that we will be offering a new opportunity for students and families to choose a virtual learning option for the 2021-2022 school year. The purpose of this email is to provide you with some introductory information about this opportunity, and we would enjoy the opportunity to visit with you more if you decide that this opportunity seems like a fit for your child(ren) and family.
We recently partnered with a Kansas Education Service Center called Greenbush, which specializes in providing virtual learning, and we are excited to share the following with you. If you choose to participate in the Lansing USD 469 Greenbush Virtual Academy next year, your student and your family will remain a part of the lion pride family. This is very important to us because, in the past, students often had to unenroll from our school and district in order to participate in a virtual learning option. Other details include:
· The Lansing USD 469 Greenbush Virtual Academy offers options for students in grades K-12.
o Our curriculum in grades K-5 will be provided through Florida Virtual School (FLVS). This curriculum meets local school district requirements and is aligned to Kansas Standards.
o Our curriculum in grades 6-12 will be provided through Edgenuity. This curriculum meets local school district requirements and is aligned to Kansas Standards.
· Each Lansing USD 469 Greenbush Virtual Academy teacher is appropriately licensed for their assigned grade-levels and/or content areas.
· Academic Coaches will be assigned to each student and family for progress monitoring and regular contact.
· Each student will have an Individual Plan of Study to ensure proper pacing, progress, and growth.
· Laptops are available for student use upon request through Greenbush.
· Counseling services will be offered through the school district as needed.
Delivery of and access to our virtual curriculum will be primarily asynchronous (recorded and accessed by students and families through on-demand modules) with access to the curriculum available on a 24/7 basis. Additionally, synchronous (live) supports via Zoom will be available at specified times on a weekly basis. We do want to be clear that virtual learning does rely on families to guide and direct their child(ren) through the curriculum with our support. In other words, students will not attend a full daily schedule of live, teacher-led virtual instruction.
We are asking any families interested in being a part of Lansing USD 469 Greenbush Virtual Academy to please fill out a quick survey found at the link below:
