Curriculum & Instruction Newsletter
November Edition
The first quarter has now come to an end and the C&I Team would like to thank all teachers, paraprofessionals and instructional support staff for your dedication to student learning and your endless creativity in developing engaging lessons for our remote learners and face-to-face students. Our goal remains to support your endeavors in ensuring the Judson ISD students receive the best education possible, regardless of the circumstances we face with this pandemic. Your resiliency as educators continues to inspire us to build resources, design tools and professional learning opportunities to meet all your educational needs.
Remember that we are available for you via the weekly zoom meetings for every content area, your PLC meetings, the monthly C&I Road Shows, and the one on one support requested, whether F2F or virtual. In addition, please don't forget the Region 20 Learning Cooperative that offers many free PD courses each month. If you have not done so, please download the documents below and store on your desktop for easy access at anytime.

Benchmark Testing: Elementary and Middle School
Benchmark testing has wrapped up for the high school, but is coming up for elementary and middle school. Please remember that benchmarks will only focus on taught TEKS to allow an opportunity to carefully determine what standards should be retaught and spiraled.
Middle & Elementary Benchmarks
- Middle School Benchmarks will occur the week of November 17- December 4.
- Elementary Benchmarks will happen on November 17 - 20th.
Benchmarks will be short enough to completed within 90 minutes and will only cover the TEKS taught up to that point. Questions will be pulled from the 2018 released STAAR exams. Students will take the benchmarks through the Eduphoria online testing platform.
Oral Administration for ELAR Assessments
Although Eduphoria does not allow for direct mirroring of the online STAAR platform, it does provide many similarities. Beginning with the ELAR unit 3 online assessments, assessments that include revising and editing passages will have an oral administration feature available
for students with that accommodation. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Lucia West or Jeanette Dear.
Supporting Documents for Online Testing
The two documents below will help you as you prepare for online testing, whether benchmarks or formative assessments, AKA checkpoints.

Imagine Math for Secondary Grade Levels
Middle School: If your students are not close to 30 lessons, don’t panic! Encourage them to catch up during all of the holidays that are coming up and continue into the Spring. Here's a sample plan for students to follow:
November 3rd ---> do 2 lessons
November 11th ---> do 2 lessons
November 21st - 29th ---> 1 to 2 lessons each day!
December 19th - January 3rd ---> 1 to 2 lessons each day!
High School: We recommend students complete the 30 PASSED lessons before December, especially if they will be taking the Algebra I EOC.
