2017-2018: Continuous Learning and Growth for All!
Our Mission: Arbor Springs Committed to Student Success.
From Dr. Durrance and Dr. Tarleton
Thank you so much for your participation in Grandparents' Day lunches! Students had a blast eating lunch with their grandparents, and the cafeteria staff, teachers, and custodial staff did a great job accommodating the extra traffic. Please let us know if you enjoyed this change--we have had only positive feedback so far.
Our 2017 CCRPI was recently released. We are very excited to share that we grew more than 6 points overall, from an 83.4 to a 90! Our progress score (a measure that shows how many students make typical or high growth) was 39.3 out of a possible 40! This increase is directly related to the extra work our teachers and staff have been putting in to make sure that every student succeeds! We will continue to work to have the highest level of success. One area of focus has been writing. Check out the awesome kindergarten writing below!
Please stop by to check our lost and found collection. All items are displayed in the area outside the faculty lounge. We will also display items at our Chorus Christmas Concert, Santa Night, and the Third Grade Musical. We will donate any unclaimed items over the winter break.
Students are excited about our upcoming Secret Santa Shop, where they can purchase inexpensive gifts for family members. Thanks to our PTA volunteers for working so hard on this project! They have been busy decorating the room, choosing items to sell, and preparing to staff the shop.
Ask your student next week about Hour of Code! You can participate, too, by going to www.code.org.

Mrs. Clay's Counseling Corner
This month’s character word is Trustworthiness. Trustworthiness means worthy of being trusted and dependable. Emphasize to your children that when we give our trust to someone we are confident in their ability to not hurt us, to be honest with us and we ultimately rely on them to be trustworthy. Trust is an essential aspect of any good relationship. When we receive trust we are giving others the confidence that we are trustworthy, that we will be reliable, be honest, be a good friend and be caring to that person.Sit down with them and talk about situations in which having someone who is trustworthy is important and how being trustworthy to friends and family is important.
