Week Of October 15th
Highlights From Last Week....
This week our class read stories about how our senses help us learn. Your child discovered ways in they use their senses.
We learned the vocabulary words: senses, explore, feast, kneads and finished. Our sight word was "see" and we focused on the letter Ss.
In Math, we work on decomposing numbers with totals up to 9. We wrote numerals 1-9 in order. We learned how to write the numbers and used the numeral to represent a quantity.

Using our senses to guess what was in the bag.
It was a popcorn popper!
We LOVED eating the popcorn!!
Notes from Mrs. Webb
We are continuing to work so hard in our classroom and developing our early reading and math skills in fun and exciting ways! Please continue to read nightly to your child and review the sight words that have been taught so far. They include WE, SEE, I, A, CAN, THE.
I am sending home a new activity for you to play with your child after school. We do this in the classroom so they will be familiar with it. This activity is meant to increase fluency (speed) with letter naming. Once your child can name letters quickly, you can move on to having him/her name the sound of the letter with fluency. It's quite simple, role the dice (one is included in his/her backpack), find the row of letters next to that dice roll, and have your child name the letters as quickly as he/she can. Please look and listen for accuracy and correct the letter name as needed. Just a little practice goes a long way!

Notes from Mrs. Marcoux
We have been working very hard on our reading and math skills. The children are so excited to realize that by recognizing their sight words, they are beginning to read. We had a few friends read to us in front of the class last week. Way to go readers!!
Thank you for turning in the reading logs, the more opportunities you have to read with your children, the more interested they will be in learning to read for themselves.
REMINDERS: School pictures on the 17th, and there will be no school on the 24th.
Please contact me if you have any questions at lmarcoux@arrsd.org.
