Campus Connections
December 3, 2017
Message from Jeff and Yolanda
Thank you to all of you who either came out or encouraged others to come support the third annual CCPS 5K. This year's event was a huge success with close to 2,000 people who registered and walked/ran this year.
This CCPS 5K brings the focus of health and wellness to Collier County students, teachers, school staff, and the community. One hundred percent of schools participated and there were high school mascots, cheerleaders and bands on hand to promote the event and cheer on the participants. Of the 50 plus schools, LWTHS/LWTC had the second most participants (over 150) register for the event. Even though we don't have sports or a band program, the CCPS 5K is a great opportunity to display our school spirit and spread the word regarding the positive things that we do in Collier County.
A special thank you goes out to our Wellness Coaches, Dulcie Neiman and Khris Betten-Jutasi, who spearhead all of our Wellness initiatives. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the CCPS 5K will come back to schools to support school-based health and wellness initiatives for students and staff.
LWTC and LWTHS students are recipients of Learn to Earn Scholarships sponsored by the Rotary Club of Naples so what better way to reciprocate by participating in their Annual Food, Beer and Wine Festival. The Food, Wine and Beer Festival is a food, wine and craft beer extravaganza featuring over 80 premium wines and dozens of craft beers with food from 10 participating restaurants and the LWTC Culinary Arts Program. The Saturday night party also included music groups and entertainment all along the street at Bayfront. Chef Geri and her students prepared and served over 4,000 desserts to attendees.

Physical activity doesn't need to be complicated. Something as simple as a daily brisk walk can help you live a healthier life.
For example, regular brisk walking can help you:
· Maintain a healthy weight
· Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
· Strengthen your bones and muscles
· Improve your mood
· Improve your balance and coordination
The faster, farther and more frequently you walk, the greater the benefits.
