Superintendent's Update

Greetings Cadet Nation!

It is hard to believe the holiday season is upon us! This is the time of year when we all thank those who have blessed us throughout the year. I am truly thankful to work with the students, parents, and staff of Connally ISD. I have told many people that this community captured my heart eleven years ago. It has been a pleasure to see so many students cross the stage at graduation and then see them thriving as adults four years later. It has also made me feel a bit older, seeing my former students enroll their children in CISD! However, it is heartwarming at the same time to know they had a positive experience in our district to the point they want their children here.

The holiday season also brings a hectic calendar for many. The school campus calendars are no exception. We are feasting and turkey trotting at the younger grades this week while junior high basketball begins. Their first game is tonight versus Gatesville. The boys will play away, and the girls' teams will play at home. The high school girls' basketball team started to play a few weeks ago, so they are in full swing of their preseason schedule. The high school boys’ basketball teams are currently on “pause.”

The pause of the high school boys' basketball season is for a great reason! It is due to the varsity football team continuing their playoff run for the state championship title. They defeated the Giddings Buffaloes on Friday night by a score of 27 to 6. They will take on the Jasper Bulldogs this Friday, November 17th, at 7:30 p.m. The game details are below:

Home Team: Jasper

Visiting Team: Connally

Where: Wildcat Stadium at Palestine High School

Address: 1600 S. Loop 256, Palestine, Texas 75801

When: Friday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket Price: $7.00 for adults and students (If an online link becomes available, it will be shared.)

As a reminder, there is no school this Friday, November 17th. Classes will resume on Monday, November 27th, after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Upon returning to school, you can get in the holiday spirit by attending the Connally High School musical Elf. The schedule for the performances is:

Thursday, November 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. (Final performance)

The musical performance is sure to delight all ages!

The next CISD school board meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 11th, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to all community members. Community members can share their views on agenda topics in the open form at the beginning of each board meeting. To do so, fill out a public comment request form before the meeting. Completing this form will allow you to speak to the Board for up to three minutes. The form must be completed before the meeting is called to order. If you have any questions about this process, please contact me.

I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. Take time to enjoy time spent with your family and friends!
