We have a butter manufacturing facility located just outside of Carlisle in Mount Holly Springs, PA. At this facility we receive more than five million pounds of raw milk per day, which is then made into butter that you might see in your refrigerator at home!
We currently have entry level positions available in the Butter Room at the Carlisle facility. These positions work an alternate 12-hour shift schedule. In a two week pay period, these positions typically work two days, have two days off, work three days, have two days off, work two days, and have three days off. It is a full-time schedule, but only scheduled about 15 days per month. Medical, dental, and vision insurances are available the first of the month following the start date. In fact, some benefits are available Day 1 of employment. The cost of the insurances is very reasonable. The entry level Butter Room positions at the Carlisle plant start at $21.00 per hour! We are also currently offering a $1,000 signing bonus.
These positions would be a great career start for high school seniors who are not interested in or who cannot afford to attend college. Court Reporting- Free Training for “the best job you never heard of”
Court reporters are in high demand and make excellent wages. They work in courts of law and capture the words spoken by everyone during a court trial. You might see them sitting in the courtroom with machines that look like typewriters or computers called a steno machine. We have learned about PROJECT STENO, which offers free basic training in court reporting to see if it might be a career fit for you.
PROJECT STENO Basic Training
Basic Training is a free program that meets once a week for two hours over six weeks. It’s a wonderful way to get your hands on a steno machine, learn the basics of steno theory, and get a better understanding of what our profession is all about. This will help you make a more informed decision about whether you would like to pursue formal professional training. Upon completing this program, we can point you to a number of schools that offer formal training if you decide you would like to pursue a career in this. We think you’ll love Basic Training!

Health Science
Nurse Aide Training- FREE FREE FREE for qualified applicants!
Interested candidates can apply in-person or online for our Nurse Aide program. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, class size is limited to 8 participants.
Our current service area includes parts of Cumberland, Perry, Adams and Franklin Counties. Residents from these areas are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be required to complete reading and math assessments. Qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews.
After completing our Pre-Nurse Aide program, qualified participants are awarded scholarships to continue on to the state-approved Nurse Aide course, preparing them for the Nurse Aide Registry certification examination. Math, science, reading, life skills, basic nursing concepts and the professional environment as well as workplace skills are taught to maximize career success. In order to better cope and serve the demands of caring for others, a reinforcement of personal life skills, such as managing stress, teamwork and self-esteem, is also an essential part of the training.
- The Pre-Nurse Aide classes run for 2 weeks followed by 3 weeks of state-approved nurse aide training. Those who are successful in our Pre-Nurse Aide course will be recommended for a full HACC scholarship to complete the state-approved class on-site at a nursing home.
- Employment Skills Center continues to monitor and assist students, when needed, to successfully complete their state-approved program. Our instructor is involved in all aspects of our students’ training and journey to employment.
- Once employed, we will continue to work with graduates, as needed, to see that they are applying the skills that they learned in their Pre-Nurse Aide program in the workplace. We normally continue to receive updates from our new nurse aides for a year or more.

Responsibilities
What you’ll do as a caregiver professional (DSP):
- Enhance the ability of the participant to lead a self-determining life by providing the support and information necessary to build self-esteem, and assertiveness; and to make decisions.
- Apply effective, sensitive communication skills to build rapport and channels of communication by recognizing and adapting to the range of participant communication styles.
- Assist and/or facilitate the implementation of an individualized plan to achieve specific outcomes derived from participants’ preferences, needs, and interests.
- Assist the participant to meet physical (ie. health, grooming, toileting, eating) and personal management needs (ie. human development, human sexuality), by teaching skills, providing supports, and building on individual strengths and capabilities.
- Assist the participant with household management (ie. meal prep, laundry, cleaning, decorating) and with transportation needs to maximize skills, abilities, and independence.
- Assist with identifying, securing, and using needed equipment (ie. adaptive equipment) and therapies (ie. physical, occupational, and communication).
- Maintain program records in accordance with all standard operating procedures and regulations.
What we’re looking for –
At a minimum, you’ll need as a caregiver professional (DSP) -
• High school Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate strongly preferred. 6 months to 2 years of previous jobs related experience preferred, but not required. Previous caregiver (DSP) experience is a definite plus.
• A valid driver’s license and 6 months of previous driving experience.
• Access to regular use of a vehicle with valid insurance coverage.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Flexible to work all assigned work schedules including holidays, evenings, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

Forklift operators are in high demand in Cumberland County. Industrial Truck & Tractor Operators was named a 2016 High Priority Occupation for the South Central Workforce Investment Area. Employment Skills Center offers lift truck training and certification along with classroom instruction in workplace readiness skills to prepare participants for self-sustaining jobs.
Our program provides 8-10 hours of workplace readiness instruction. Topics include:
- A preview of basic lift truck principles
- An introduction to logistics
- Warehouse job competencies
- Workplace math & reading skills
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Resume writing
- Job search skills
Students who complete the workplace readiness modules will continue on to OSHA compliant forklift safety training, hands-on instruction, testing, and certification. Successful graduates of the program will receive a wallet card and certificate of completion.

Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with state and federal DOT guidelines. Use various loading techniques, such as loading tight or cross loading.
- Transport self and/or freight continuously throughout the service center in a forklift on non-forgiving surfaces.
- Utilize Dock Yard Management System to consistently monitor freight shipment locations throughout the service center.
- Read and interpret shipping labels. Familiarity with, and in some cases ability to complete the various forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, overage/damage movement reports and exception forms.
- Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as necessary.
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope).
- Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-pace and deadline oriented.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Previous forklift experience a plus
- Able to complete company and governmental forms and comprehend written company policies and governmental regulations.
- Ability to properly operate hand held mini-computer when needed.
- Must be able to have a flexible work schedule in order to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules
